  1. Battleground set for battlepublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 18 June 2020

    15:00 Chesham Stakes (7f)

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Battleground has an impressive pedigree.

He is the first foal of Found, who won the Prix de 'Arc de Triomphe and the Breeders' Cup Turf in 2016 but his debut over six furlongs in Ireland earlier this month was a bit disappointing.

He is a horse who wants further and should take a step forward here for Ryan Moore from his run at Naas.

Last year's race was won by Pinatubo and stablemate Modern News for William Buick and Charlie Appleby catches the eye.

  2. "He is a lovely horse"published at 14:45 British Summer Time 18 June 2020

    Molatham wins Jersey Stakes

Winning jockey Jim Crowley: "He was tough. We were unsure about the ground today but he stuck it out well and once he got headed he came back.

"He is a lovely horse and only does as much as he has to and keeps a bit up his sleeve."

Winning trainer Roger Varian: "He is a lovely horse and great to see him win like that. He showed his class last year at Doncaster but he has trained well.

"We'll see what is next. This race has a rich history of producing good horses and we can be excited for the rest of the season."

    Jersey Stakes

Jim Crowley, 41, spoke to us here at the BBC on Monday afternoon when his career Royal Ascot tally stood at five.

Less than halfway through the 2020 meeting, he has doubled it.

Crowley's fifth victory looked unlikely a furlong out after a bold move from Monarch Of Egypt, but Ryan Moore had to settle for second again.

Molatham brings up a double on the day for Roger Varian after Mountain Angel's victory.

    14:25 Jersey Stakes (7f)

Race three of the day and the favourite is set to be King Leonidas for Frankie Dettori and John Gosden.

The horse, named after an ancient Greek warrior king, only ran once as a two-year-old and was also victorious at Newmarket earlier this month.

Molatham showed some good form last year for Roger Varian and Jim Crowley but is a horse who prefers faster ground.

Monarch of Egypt is the stronger of the two Aidan O'Brien-trained runners and could be involved in the shake-up.

  10. Mountain Angel wins the Wolfertonpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 18 June 2020

Mountain Angel's jockey James Doyle speaking after his win: "It worked out perfectly. He ran a good race last year but today the rain came for him nicely. He relishes the cut in the ground.

"I couldn’t believe how much room we had when we turned in."

  12. Doyle does it againpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 18 June 2020

A third winner of the week for James Doyle, who is now clear second in the jockeys' standings behind leader Jim Crowley who has four.

Mountain Angel, trained by Roger Varian, had met trouble in running when fifth in this race last year but Doyle was in charge here and we are still left wondering exactly how good Sir Dragonet might be after a fast-finishing second.

Aidan O'Brien, the trainer of Sir Dragonet, has just been talking on the phone to Sky Sports Racing.

"He seems to be in good form and we always thought this was a race that might suit him. He has form with soft in the ground so hopefully he will be okay."

  20. Balding looks to outfox his rivalspublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 18 June 2020

    13:50 Wolfterton Stakes (1m 2f)

Fox Tal is making his first start of the season and his Group One experience could prove to be an advantage in this one for the team of jockey Silvestre de Sousa and trainer Andrew Balding.

His fourth place in last year's Champion Stakes at Ascot was a good end to the season and the in-form Balding will be hoping the four-year-old can impress again as he drops in grade.

After finishing fifth behind stablemate Anthony van Dyck in last year's Derby at Epsom, there will be plenty of interest in Sir Dragonet for the Ryan Moore and Aidan O'Brien team.

But the rain might not help the chances of Regal Beauty, ridden by Jim Crowley and trained by Sir Michael Stoute.
