  1. Big day for Bielsapublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 20 June 2020

    16:10 Wokingham Stakes (6f)

Another bumper field of 22 for the penultimate race of this year's Royal meeting.

Leeds United fans will be backing the well-fancied Bielsa, trained by Kevin Ryan and ridden by Silvestre de Sousa.

The five-year-old has recently been bought by King Power Racing, run by the family of late Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha who died in a helicopter crash in October 2018.

Highland Dress, formerly trained by John Oxx in Ireland but now with Archie Watson in Lamborne, could be a danger.

  2. Hello Youmzain winspublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 20 June 2020

    Diamond Jubilee Stakes

Hello Youmzain gives jockey Kevin Stott a first Royal Ascot winner after the placings remain unaltered following a stewards' inquiry.

The 4-1 chance was smartly away and led the group down the middle of the track before tacking over to the stands rail after about three furlongs.

He remained in the firing line throughout and although Dettori tried his best to add to his tally on favourite Sceptical, Hello Youmzain was just too strong.

Kevin Ryan's winner rallied when headed and then fended off the late charge of Dream Of Dreams to claim the Group One prize.

Some result that for Stott - who is the boyfriend of jockey Megan Nicholls - who saw off Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori in a thrilling finish.

    15:35 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (6f)

The third of our three Group Ones and the Denis Hogan-trained Sceptical gets to take to the big stage.

The four-year-old only made his debut on the all-weather in Ireland last October but has made rapid improvement since then and made a smooth transition to the grass when winning at Naas earlier this month.

He was due to compete in Tuesday's King's Stand under Frankie Dettori but connections decided to wait until this race and Dettori has been booked again.

Among the other challengers are Kevin Ryan's Hello Youmzain, the William Haggas-trained One Master and Khaadem from Charlie Hills' yard.

  8. "He was the best horse"published at 15:21 British Summer Time 20 June 2020

Palace Pier wins St James's Palace

    Winning jockey Frankie Dettori

"We always thought a lot of him but he can be a bit sleepy

"Since his run at Newcastle, he has turned the page and shown how good he is and this is only his first Grade One run.

"I expect him to improve for this. My job was to keep him honest and get him off the bridle.

"I knew he would finish strong. He was the best horse - simple as that."

  9. "Classy horse"published at 15:21 British Summer Time 20 June 2020

Palace Pier wins St James's Palace

    Winning trainer John Gosden

"It is a very fulfilling win. He is lazy in the morning and doesn't show much in his work.

"The race was rough and they were getting close to each other but this stiff mile suited him.

    "He is a classy horse."

  10. Palace Pier seals Dettori treblepublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 20 June 2020

    St James's Palace Stakes

Yesterday was exactly 30 years to the day that Frankie Dettori, then aged 19, rode his first winner at Royal Ascot.

Now he has 73 after Palace Pier completed a Saturday treble in a gripping renewal of the St James's Palace Stakes. That puts him level with one of his heroes, the late Pat Eddery.

Wichita held a leading hand as the Aidan O'Brien team tried to dictate matters and Pinatubo was also involved in a thrilling finish but another Dettori masterclass ensured victory for the John Gosden-trained runner.

  15. Is there more from Pinatubo?published at 14:55 British Summer Time 20 June 2020

    15:00 St James's Palace Stakes (1m)

The Charlie Appleby-trained Pinatubo came to the recent 2,000 Guineas as the champion juvenile but he could only finish third at Newmarket.

"You can definitely see this horse has sharpened up for his run in the Guineas," says Appleby. "He is a horse, as we saw last year, that progressed race on race - and I feel that race has definitely brought him forward."

Wichita finished a place ahead of Pinatubo in the Guineas and reopposes again for Ryan Moore and Aidan O'Brien while O'Brien also saddles Arizona and Royal Dornoch.

Another who could have a say is Richard Hannon's Threat. Winner of the Gimcrack last season, owners Cheveley Park Stud chose to forgo a run in the Guineas to keep him fresh for this.

    Alpine Star wins Coronation Stakes

Alpine Star's jockey Frankie Dettori after completing a full house of career Group One wins at the meeting:

"I've finally conquered Royal Ascot. This meeting means a lot to me and I've been riding here for 30 years

"[Trainer] Jessica Harrington and [owners] the Niarchos family offered me this ride a while back and I was excited. She was well prepared and showed a good turn of foot.

"She is a wonderful filly and won in good style and is up there with the best fillies at the moment

"She would definitely get further - maybe a mile and a quarter - she did all her best work at the end.

"As the week has gone on it has gone better for me. The racing has been second to none and there have been some tremendous races."
