GK Phumza Maweni is plugging away and so close to a tip from a Serena Guthrie pass.

Maryka Holtzhausen's second shot on the trot rolls around the rim but doesn't drop through the net.

    Frustrating for her.

    Q2: South Africa 12-20 England

    I'm christening England's shooter's H2.

They've been more in-tune than a pair of identical twins today.

South Africa's heads have not dropped. They are still up for this one and the belief is there.

  6. 'They have been super impressive'published at 20:21 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

    Q2: South Africa 11-19 England

    Sara Bayman
Former England captain on BBC Sport

Jo Harten and Helen Housby have worked so well. They come under a bit of criticism after the Jamaica game that they were too hard to find and were not giving enough options but that is not the case today. We have seen spin moves, Jo has been holding and then that last shot from the edge of the circle, they have done it all in that first quarter. They have been super impressive.

    Q2: South Africa 11-19 England

That was truly scintillating stuff. Rapid. Can we have the same again please?

I thought the crowd had been loud up to this point, but I was wrong.

The noise in here is stadium concert volume levels.

  8. End of first quarterpublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

    Q1: South Africa 11-19 England

England ramped up the pressure as the quarter rattled on.

They waited for the last move of the period to show what they can do. It started with a Geva Mentor intercept, made by Jade Clarke and Serena Guthrie in the middle and finished off by an audacious Jo Harten long shot right on the whistle.

Work to do for South Africa. Lots of it.

EEESH, Geva Mentor so close to a rebound there...but it's a nail-length away from her grasp.

    Lenize Potgieter scores.

Q1: South Africa 10-17 South Africa

Serena Guthrie and Shadine Van Der Merwe get themselves in a right old tangle and hit the deck.

The cruise ships are outside guys!

Guthrie gets up, wipes the court down, feeds her shooter and through the net the ball drops.

  11. 'They are playing well together'published at 20:12 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

    South Africa 9-13 England

    Pamela Cookey
Former England shooter at the M&S Bank Arena

It's great to see this partnership (Helen Housby and Jo Harten) - who have now been nicknamed H2 - playing so well together. They are playing well together and using the edge of the circle well. The rotation in the circle is brilliant, one of them is surely going to get the ball which they have done every time.

    Q1: South Africa 9-15 England

Under four minutes to play in this quarter.

Geva Mentor and Eboni Usuro-Brown are really suffocating South Africa's movement in that final third.

  13. Postpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

    Q1: South Africa 9-14 England

Lenize Potgieter misses and England storm the ball through court.

They slow the ball down around the D before the move is finished off with a wonderful Jo Harten long-range shot.

  14. Postpublished at 20:10 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

    Q1: South Africa 9-12 England

The England shooters are winning the battle in the circle right now, with South Africa's defenders marking too tight.

Jo Harten snatches the ball like a kid going for the last piece of cake at a party.

    Q1: South Africa 7-9 England

Erin Burger is on for Bongi Msomi at centre, who has taken a bit of a knock early-on here.

A shame for the Proteas to lose her, even temporarily.

Maryka Holtzhausen joins the party with an absolute beaut of a long-bomb shot.

She's welcome to show-off with those on this stage.

    Q1: South Africa 4-7 England

Karla Pretorius is not happy with a contact call as her nemesis Helen Housby grabs the ball.

Yikes, Chelsea Pitman called for footwork but she makes up for her error with a brilliant aerial intercept.

  18. Postpublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

Gev Mentor puts her body between the shooter and post and then a mistake from Lenize Potgeiter hands England a backline pass and chance for an early break.

    Lovely jubbly.
