    Q4: Australia 53-54 England

Ahhh Jade Clarke missed pass, just too much pressure from the Diamonds.

They force all the England players into a small space and it's making it very difficult for the Roses.

England need a response, the Australian bench are on their feet and fired up.

England need to tighten up a bit, the Diamonds are shutting everything down and England just struggling to find that way through.

Superb from Chelsea Pitman to find Eleanor Cardwell and stretch the three-goal lead.

England have the ball but no-one there, they're playing with fire on the three second line.

Paige Hadley on for Jamie-Lee Price.

Ouch! It's getting feisty out there.

Jamie-Lee Price has another caution, this time for bopping Jade Clarke on the head as she went to try and nab the ball.

There's Imogen Allison once again with the intercept.

What a tournament she is having.

'Get some width!' shouts Jo Harten from the bench.

    What an intercept Fran Williams!

Straight down to Eleanor Cardwell and that puts England's nose just in front.

It was risky to bring on Fran Williams and Funmi Fadoju in that third quarter but fair play.

Also, don't forget this match actually means nothing.

Except bragging rights. Plus no-one wants to win the tournament but get beaten on the way.

    Q4: Australia 47-47 England

Worth noting that while ticket prices and empty seats have been an issue at this World Cup for most matches apart from those involving South Africa, there is a full house for this cracker.

    What a treat too.

Funmi Fadoju! Flies in and this time England take it to goal. We're all square.

  15. 'Huge effort from England'published at 09:19 British Summer Time 3 August 2023

    Jodie Gibson
England defender speaking on BBC TV

You cannot underestimate the work England had to do in that third quarter.

They came out firing in the second half of the quarter, with Allison and Clarke in front of Fadoju.

They marked the space and changed up the angles on the court.

England have ball winners and we want to see that coming into this decisive fourth quarter.

    Here we go then.

Oh wow! Helen Housby straight in on the Australian centre pass but it's a dodgy pass into the England circle and back in the hands of the Diamonds.

    Q3: Australia 45-44 England

So good from England to get things back to level and overturn that eight-goal deficit.

Have they got it in them to take the W? We'll know in 15 minutes.

Ahhh! Funmi Fadoju almost gets a crucial tip to prevent the Aussie goal but Cara Koenen gets it in.

Seconds on the clock for Helen Housby to convert the centre pass and she sinks it.

    What a quarter!

That is the luxury we refer to when we talk about having a squad of 12 - not just being able to rotate players but bring on players with different qualities and styles of play.

We've also seen the arrival of Jamie-Lee Price at centre for the Diamonds with Paige Hadley heading off to the bench.

Persistent breaking from Liz Watson and that's a caution.
