  1. 'Roses haven't executed well'published at 18:32 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Pamela Cookey
Former England shooter on BBC TV

The wheels have come off for the Roses at certain points.

The Roses have not really executed as well as they could have.

They have converted the same amount of centre passes as the Australians, it is just at the turnovers, they haven't been able to take those on to [convert to] goal.

  3. Postpublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Q4: England 44-55 Australia

Chelsea Pitman returns to the fray with a cut on her leg all taped up.

Just less than five minutes to go and Eleanor Cardwell nails one from range. But it's all a bit too little too late for England.

  4. Postpublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Q4: England 41-52 Australia

Chelsea Pitman is coming off for Nat Metcalf. Looks like she has a bit of a cut or something that needs taking care of.

Sophie Garbin plucks Imogen Allison's pass out of the air and it's all a bit easy for the Diamonds.

  5. 'Diamonds enjoying themselves now'published at 18:27 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Madison Browne
    Australia mid-court on BBC TV

Australia are just enjoying this moment now, continuing to tick the scoreboard over.

The timing of rotations from Stacey Marinkovich, the way the players just dovetail in and out of the side and keep those standards high, is just brilliant to see.

  6. Postpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Q4: England 40-51 Australia

Less than 10 minutes to go and Laura Malcolm's loopy pass to Chelsea Pitman is knocked down by Courtney Bruce and Ash Brazill just collects and says thank you very much.

Kiera Austin rewards under the post.

With this cushion the Diamonds can enjoy this.

  7. Postpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Q4: England 40-50 Australia

It's all starting to fall apart here.

Dodgy pass from England and Sarah Klau is wise to it. The Roses get away with it at first but a miss from Eleanor Cardwell gives them another chance to take to goal.

Kiera Austin misses! That's her first one of the match.

Eventually Helen Housby sinks it for England.

Sarah: I want to see England really go for this and take some chances

Laura: FINALLY Chelsea Pitman on!!! About time! I fear too later though…

Georgie: Diamonds have hit their flow and riding off their experience. They've been here before and they know how to win.

  9. 'Pitman rotation came too late'published at 18:23 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Ama Agbeze
Former England captain on BBC Two

Chelsea Pitman was brought on too late in the day.

We saw a lot of whistle for held ball and that was because England were being caught static in attack.

They only had one person moving, if at all.

Pitman has that strength, that strong drive and long vision.

    Q4: England 39-50 Australia

There's the 50 up for Australia.

The Diamonds bench have been loud and up on their feet for much of this match. By contrast the England bench looks quite flat.

  11. 'Panicked England'published at 18:21 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Beth Cobden
Former England player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Defensively England have gone quite loose.

England look a bit panicked. They need to go back to their structure and do what they do well.

  12. Postpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Q4: England 37-49 Australia

Funmi Fadoju is on at goal defence with Geva Mentor at goal keeper.

Fadoju will have a bit more freedom in that position than goal keeper, where we briefly saw her earlier, to come out and hunt for the ball.

  13. 'Roses need to take risks'published at 18:20 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Karen Greig
Manchester Thunder Head Coach on BBC Two

England have to start taking risks.

There is nobody on court having a chew on something.

Once you have the confidence to have a go and know someone has got your back... we have to start seeing that.

  14. Final quarter beginspublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Q4: England 37-46 Australia

Right, Imogen Allison, Fran Williams, Funmi Fadoju.

Anyone that has won a ball for England in the red dress in this tournament, just throw them all on there.

England have 15 minutes to turn this around and prevent Australia winning a 12th title.

  15. 'Big team unit defence needed'published at 18:18 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Serena Kersten
Commonwealth gold medallist with England on BBC Two

It's evident that we need ball.

The intercept stats for that third quarter, we're not getting enough ball to get ourselves back into this game.

It's going to be a full team unit defence if we are going to get back into this game in the final quarter.

    Q3: England 36-46 Australia

Referring to the third quarter as the 'championship quarter' is my absolute netball ick but that's what that felt like.

For those new to the sport, the third quarter is often the 15 minutes cited as those that win or lose you a match.

  18. 'Diamonds' pressure defence'published at 18:15 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Beth Cobden
Former England player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

You can see the pressure the Diamonds put on.

They are so tight and they're starting to reap the rewards with intercepts coming and England making errors.

  19. End of Q3published at 18:15 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Q3: England 36-46 Australia

Seconds on the clock and England haven't been able to close that gap as Kiera Austin sinks one on the buzzer.

They'll take a 10-goal lead into the final quarter.

  20. 'Can Pitman make the difference again?'published at 18:13 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Madison Browne
    Australia mid-court on BBC TV

Chelsea Pitman is being injected into the game.

This was a great change in the previous match between these teams, can she be a difference maker again?
