That's all from us tonight, folks. Thanks very much for joining us.

It was a big night for Dan Ballard and Shayne Lavery, who netted their first international goals, and for the manager Ian Baraclough, who claimed his maiden competitive victory inside 90 minutes.

You can view Mark Sterling's match report here for some nice bedtime reading.

Northern Ireland are back in action again on Sunday against Estonia in a friendly before the huge game on Wednesday against the Swiss. NI owe them one after that infamous handball incident, right?

Five goals, three penalties but most importantly, three points. That will do for one night!

    Bye for now!

I think that shows the quality and the depth we have in the squad with young lads coming through. We've not got Jonny [Evans] and Stu [Dallas], key players and the way the young players slotted in is a great sign. There's a good mood after tonight and we have a big game at home against Switzerland. The stadium is going to be rocking and hopefully we have that positive energy and get a good performance.

Baraclough was full of praise for Bailey Peacock-Farrell after his huge penalty save in the second half.

    Quote Message

He comes up with some important saves at some important times. He has shown his worth and he is playing regular football now. He has shown how good he is as a keeper and Premier League class, which is what he is. I think his time with Sheffield Wednesday will be a good one for him and it is an important save he has made. We were 2-1 up at the time, so to pull off a save like that was brilliant. I don't like pointing out individuals, there are key moments that individuals have been involved in. The front two have set us up well, the midfield controlled the play for the majority and our wide men gave them problems all night long. It's been a real team display and that was a performance that merited four goals. We need to make sure we move that on to Estonia and Switzerland.

I don't think you realise from the outside what has gone on this week, the losses we have had and the downs we have picked ourselves up from. The boys have come together and have been tremendous. We have gone about our work calmly and we have gone about our jobs.

    Quote Message

I said to the boys that they had to come of age tonight and they certainly did that. They have taken their chances, there was a shaky five minute-spell in the first half and a shaky five in the second, but we managed the game very, very well. For young players to do that amongst the senior boys, I thought it was a magnificent performance. This is a tough place to come, so for us to control the majority of the play and play some really good stuff, it could have been more, but we'll take the four goals.

I'm looking at Lavery and I'm seeing a bit of David Healy in there. If he can even have half the impact of Healy it will be a big bonus. He is a similar size to Healy, his movement is there, he is testing the goalkeeper and let's hope he keeps doing that. If a striker misses chances he can go hiding but he's always there and got his reward.

Elsewhere in Group C, Bulgaria have held on for a famous point against the European champions!

The Italians are still well clear at the top of the group, and Northern Ireland move just two points behind Switzerland ahead of their match on Wednesday. As if we needed any more tension at Windsor Park.

Bulgaria's point, while extremely impressive, still leaves them two adrift of Northern Ireland in third.

I'm delighted for the boys. We needed to win that match but it was a strange game of football. We needed a bit of luck and we had it with the penalty save, otherwise it could have been a different story. It's a big boost for Ian Baraclough, especially with the changes he had to make and the game was played on a tricky surface. Mistakes were made all over the park but a 4-1 win is a great boost.
