    Ohhh nice!

Paddy McNair is the man to take it and he's obviously been watching Conor Washington in practice.

It's a brilliant strike into the right-hand side of the net.

  3. PENALTYpublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 2 September 2021

    Lithuania 1-3 Northern Ireland

Steven Davis wins NI's second penalty of the night!

Conor Washington plays a lovely ball into the box and Davis is bundled over by Edgaras Utkus. No doubt about that one!

    Lithuania 1-3 Northern Ireland

After the earlier dramas, we're more than happy for this to be the most-boring 15 minutes of the year.

Still no sign of Baraclough making a change.

Given his popularity in Northern Ireland, Lavery's goal will get the headlines but we can't forget the importance of that Peacock-Farrell save minutes earlier.

It's another cliché, but it was literally as important as a goal. Mega stuff.

Right, the last two times Northern Ireland have scored they've switched off and allowed the hosts back into it.

Surely they'll see the game out from here...

    SHAYNE LAVERY YOU BEAUTY!

It had been coming all evening from the Blackpool man!

Jamal Lewis and Jordan Thompson again link-up on the left-hand side of the area. The midfielder drills the ball in and Lavery's first-time, emphatic finish flies into the net.

He's fully justified his selection this evening. No doubt the first of many in a green shirt.

Ian Baraclough needs to settle his side down here.

This is where you really miss the likes of Jonny Evans and Stuart Dallas.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:06 British Summer Time 2 September 2021

    Lithuania 1-2 Northern Ireland

What a save! Peacock-Farrell dives to his left and pulls off a brilliant save to deny Arvydas Novikovas from the spot.

Absolute match-defining stuff from the keeper!

It's given after a VAR check!

Paddy McNair is booked and he'll miss Wednesday's game with Switzerland. Double blow.

  13. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:04 British Summer Time 2 September 2021

    Lithuania 1-2 Northern Ireland

We know Northern Ireland have a habit of making it hard for themselves but this is getting ridiculous...

Craig Cathcart is caught on the ball and the home side race towards goal.

Paddy McNair dives in and gets in the way of Justas Lasickas, who fell to the floor.

    We have a VAR check...

    Lithuania 1-2 Northern Ireland

We have a match on here and the goal seems to have brought NI back to life again.

Jordan Thompson and Jamal Lewis link-up well, and the latter's ball across the box is agonisingly between the onrushing Washington and Ali McCann.

Baraclough's boys have just been missing that clinical touch this evening. Let's hope that doesn't come back to haunt them.

  17. goal

GOALpublished at 20:57 British Summer Time 2 September 2021

    Lithuania 1-2 Northern Ireland

Baravykas pulls one back with a screamer!

He had just won the corner, and the resulting set play found its way to the right back on the edge of the box.

It falls perfectly for him and his first-time shot is an absolute rocket into the side netting.

It was so quick the cameraman originally missed it.

    Well, well, well...

  18. CLOSE!published at 20:56 British Summer Time 2 September 2021

Rolandas Baravykas picks up the ball midway through the Northern Ireland half and his effort from the edge of the area is deflected wide.

    Warning signs!

We said from the start that Northern Ireland were the better side and it was about how they applied themselves. Aside from five minutes at the start and end of the first half we have dominated the game.

Never in doubt! Washington fires it into the side netting as the goalkeeper dives the wrong way, down to his left.

Northern Ireland have never lost when Washington has scored, which is a nice omen.
