What a start by Davey Todd but it was the familiar face of Alastair Seeley at the front.
There were gasps around the paddock the both riders kicked up a rooster tail of spray on the run to Metropole.
It's stating the obvious, but they both want this and it's no more evident than they were the first two bikes back on the grid after the red flag!
What will the restart have in store?
The Supersport race will restart as a four-lap race.
No news on exactly when yet, but when it does we have a four-lapper to look forward to.

Quote MessageI was having a good battle with Alastair [Seeley], it was a right little ding-dong. I think it was shaping up for a good race and was good fun. I just hope we are able to complete it.

This is an interesting race already between Davey Todd and Alastair Seeley out in front.
Seeley looking to extend his wins record, of course, and he has the lead but he is not having it all his own way.
Adam McClean is third and Jeremy McWilliams in fourth.
Record wins holder Alastair Seeley gets off to a fine start and had opened up a good advantage, but Davey Todd makes a surge and leads as they approach University.
Competitive racing is well and truly back at the North West 200.
The two warm-up laps are out of the way and the riders are getting down to the serious business.

It's been a long two years and you almost forget about the tension and buzz on the grid before the first race of the week.
There's an air of anticipation and you can really feel it from the stands to the track.
The rain has added extra intrigue to an already exciting starting grid. This could be anyone's race.
Quote MessageIt was lovely, I was enjoying that. These conditions are OK for me, it is the same for everyone and the rain is a great leveller. There are a few slippy patches where the new tarmac is down but the two laps were good to give us a feel for it.

Quote MessageThere's a fair few fans out here. Umbrellas and waterproofs are a must of course! The Irish road racing fans are a hardy bunch so plenty braving the conditions, especially after a few years without racing here.
Quote MessageWe are where we are and we have decided to go ahead. This morning's session went really well. I think the forecast is going to be the same for most of the evening, we are monitoring it closely and the plan is to get through all three races this evening.

The riders are out on their two-lap warm-up in the Supersport race.
As we approach the first race of the night, organisers have given the riders two sighting laps in the Supersport race after the rain that has fallen in the last few hours.
In 2019 there were three first-time winners at the North West.
How many do you think there will be this year?
Tuesday's practice suggests there could be a few more - read more here.

Quote MessageIt’s a nice place to be in pole position. We just had that bit of rain which hampered the rest of qualifying. With the new track conditions, I think they’re going to give us two sighting laps just to give us a feel for the place as we haven’t been around when it’s wet, wet.

The rain has eased off and we have bikes on the grid!
We're going to have two sighting laps to get the riders used to the conditions.

At the start of the week, our man Richard Petrie had a look at who the likely North West winners will be this week.
Spoiler alert - Glenn Irwin, Alastair Seeley and Michael Dunlop are on the list.
Have a read here to get his thoughts and tell us if you agree.

Who do you fancy for this one?
The Supersport class is one of the most unpredictable at the North West and it's a quality field at the front.
Alastair Seeley will be the favourite to notch up his 25th North West win, but you can't count out 2019 winner Davey Todd or Adam McLean, who has excelled in the 600 class.
That trio occupy the front row but there is a stacked field in behind who will be vying for the first victory of the event.
Lee Johnston, carrying the number one plate on his Ashcourt Racing 600, is out of position in 11th and will be one to watch if he carves his way through the field.
