    What a minute we've just had.

    Down are denied a goal with an incredible block from Ronan Ryan, with Pat Havern failing to pick up the pieces for the Ulster side.

    Meath then take the ball up the other end with Costello who loops the ball over to the back post but it's too much of a stretch for Conor Gray to make any contact on the goal line.

    Those two Niall Kane place kicks briefly gave Down a bit of daylight but Meath have come right back to level and this game remains up for grabs.

    The shooting from both sides remains errant with the normally very reliable Danny Magill the latest Down man to be badly off target when he should have pointed.

    To make matters worse for Down, Meath are now starting to win a few turnovers.

    It's not been a great advert for the second-tier competition thus far.
