Galal Yafai, who lost his second-round bout earlier today, said: "I have got to take some positives as well. Obviously I have lost so I am gutted but, when I look back at it, 12 months ago I was working for Land Rover and now I have just lost out to the world champion in the Olympic Games on a split decision when I thought I'd won."

    Men's team final

I'm not going to pretend I have an encyclopaedic knowledge of gymnastics, but I know Nile Wilson has just absolutely nailed it on the rings. Superb dismount and he bags a score of 15.100, up on 14.941 in qualification.

Strong start, considering this is seen as GB's weakest piece of apparatus.

The crowd here are creating quite a din considering their numbers. There's a pantomime atmosphere as a large number of fans hiss when the Ukranian pair's score appears on the board. It's quickly forgotten though as next come Brazil but, wait a minute, their score is lower than Ukraine's. More hissing. In a few minutes a Dame will appear on top of the 10m board and everyone will start shouting 'it's behind you'.

GB defending Olympic champion Alex Gregory took a solitary walk through the mixed zone after the men's four put down a marker in their heat and he was in a bouyant mood.

He said getting on the water "relieved a pressure valve" after yesterday's delay, which "felt like a lifetime", but said there was "better to come" from the crew despite their comfortable win.

The wind might have dropped today but he said there are still challenges in the water at every stage of the course, which steerman Moe Sbihi takes care of. Was he talking a lot? "No, he said two words."

That's the confidence of a finely-tuned outfit, which are hoping to win a fifth consecutive gold at the Olympics in the men's four.

This will go down to the final routine. Normally China and Japan are battling it out for number one and number two but I don't think that will be the case today.

Don't be alarmed if GB slip down the rankings at the start.High bar, floor and pommel are our big scorers.

Inward one and a half somersault with a pike from Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow.

It's a solid dive, with higher marks for execution than synchronicity - they get a 51.60 which puts them third behind the USA and China.

    Five more rounds to go.

Seven down in the first round - just Daley and Goodfellow to go.

China's Chen Aisen and Lin Yue lead with a 57.00 - it was like watching a mirror image hit the water. Incredible synchronicity.

There are plenty of Americans and Brits hanging around the furthest end of the Olympic Park where the diving and gymnastics takes place. Paul and Jo Mutz from California are heading to the gymnastics once they've devoured their hot dogs. They were at the opening ceremony and were apparently captured on TV. They were on the BBC, they proudly say. I'm going to have to take their word on it.

The Youth Arena is a wild place. I caught the end of USA beating Spain in women's basketball earlier.

It's clear this sport is one at this games where players are worshipped and some fans are lucky enough to nail a selfie as their heroes ran to the locker room.

I love this venue and hope to spend an hour or two in here. It's noisy and always seems pumped when I pass. USA's women are in there again on Wednesday. That's in the diary.

Here's Dan Gentles. You know Dan. Yeah, that's the one, lives in Oxford. He's come over for the Olympics funnily enough, has tickets for the diving, rugby sevens and a few other sports.

There are a number of empty seats near him. It's nothing to do with Dan, it's the same everywhere. As I type, a Brit is asking a volunteer whether he can move to a seat closer to the platform, but everything is lost in translation.

The gentleman leaves frustrated, still unsure whether he can move from the furthest end of the arena. The answer is, he probably can.
