Adam Peaty on BBC One: "So much relief. Coming here people were saying it's going to be tough and there's pressure on me but pressure is not real, it's in your mind, almost wanting to stop you achieving things, but I got into the right mindset and wasn't scared.
"I am so happy to have GB's first gold of the Games and it's so good for it to be in swimming.
"This is what you dream of. Every time you want to go back to bed at 4am when it's dark this makes it worth it. Every day I push the boundaries and it's paid off.
"I'll get back on Twitter tonight. I want to thank the whole of Britain, the Royal Family, everyone."
