You could hear the British women say "one, two, three" - that was the magic revealed on how sync divers take off at the same time. Lois Toulson was a bit further away from the board than Tonia Couch but other than that good synchronisation.

Team USA have their game faces as they take a breather after the vault. Cheer up girls, you've just scored 46.866. Which is a bit of a monster for those not totally familiar with this event.

Good start by Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson and they sit fourth after round one.

No sign of nerves from 16-year-old Olympic debutant Toulson. Things going to plan so far.

    So that's a French or Slovak winner of the C1 class in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016.

Our winner - Denis Chanut Gargaud - sent his followers wild in the stand.

With only Germany's Sideris Tasiadis left to paddle, one French fan shook the hand of a German sat behind him. It quickly became apparent who could celebrate though as the splits for the last man were way down on what was needed.

David Florence will be distraught. I'm told he's the type of character who will not make excuses. He goes again in the C2 alongside Richard Hounslow on Thursday.

That pool is looking a very funny colour - lime greenish and not quite what you'd expect to see at an Olympic pool. Still, we're well under way with China's Ruolin Chen and Huixia Liu  - favourites for gold - leading the way after a near faultless back dive.

Great Britain are the last of eight up on the board.

Only a small percentage of the British population was alive when their women's gymnastics team last won an Olympic medal.

That came all the way back in 1928. A year when the reigning monarch was George V - Queen Elizabeth II''s grandad, John Logie Baird demonstrated the first colour television programme, and the Oxford Dictionary was officially published.

Can this year's GB crop end that barren run? They have a chance after finishing fourth in qualifying. The USA, going for their fifth straight global title, are the team to beat.

I just wonder if they're going to have problems going ahead. It doesn't look healthy at all. It's almost like a theme park attraction and not an Olympic diving pit.

Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson carry GB's hopes of a medal in the diving.

Three-time Olympian Couch is in familiar territory but, at 27, she is an old hand compared to 16-year-old Toulson, who is making her Olympic debut.

Big moment for the pair, who only forged their partnership nine months ago.

Cheers Stephan! It was mixed fortunes for GB in the men's diving and gymnastics yesterday. Tom Daley and Daniel Goodfellow produced a great final dive to win one of two Olympic bronze medals for Britain, but GB's men just missed out on bronze in gymnastics. What will tonight bring? Almost time to find out...

So after that disappointment, Great Britain must look to gymnastics and diving for their medals on this fourth day of the Olympics. Gary Rose is here to get those finals under way...

Tom Stanyon: Starting to get the impression we were all a little too hopeful for team GB in Rio. London was always going to hard to follow

David Florence, I'm afraid, was nowhere.
