The Vicki Michelle! What do you mean you've never heard of 'Allo 'Allo?

Six paddlers have completed the course and Slovakia's Matej Benus continues to lead. The four fastest men in the semis are set to go. Business end.

Bitter disappointment for David Florence. It's a distraught looking David Florence because it's not been enough and it has all gone so wrong.
While technically the gates early on are easy to achieve, the key is to catch the right currents and get the right propulsion for the rest of the course. He didn’t get that.

FranKO: Anyone else starting to think 48 medals is looking hugely optimistic...?
Andrew Meskill: I'm going to be ruthlessly honest. A lot of GB athletes are coming up short. Shame
Adam O'Neill: So gutted and disappointed for David Florence

What a disappointment, he gave up. The early mistake where he had to paddle back for the gate cost him. It threw him and there was no coming back from that. If you paddle up on a gate in the Olympics, there is no coming back. I am quite surprised by that performance.
He came in as world champion and won Olympic silver, but he can be back out there in two days' time in the C2 with Richard Hounslow.
If you're British and need to take your mind off that disappointment, BBC Sport presenter Ore Oduba is hosting a Facebook Live session from Rio - you can join him, from the comfort of your sofa/armchair/hammock by heading over to the BBC Sport Facebook page., external
While you're there, you can also see Aimee Lewis chatting to the family of British diver Rebecca Gallantree.

The gent with the grey hair is the dad of David Florence.
How must he be feeling? This contingent of family and friends have horns with them and it's noisy to say the least.
The cry of despair is deafening as things go wrong for the world number one around gates 11 and 12. One gent among the support puts his face in his hands.
So much promise but that just goes to show how even as world champion, you get just one chance to deliver. There will be no British medal.

This is so disappointing. He is the world champion, he has such a good record in majors but he made two huge errors in Deodora which has cost him a medal.
His father, who flew him out to Rio, was not expecting that.
It's miles out. Florence finishes in 109 seconds. The man who won silver at Beijing in 2008 will not be winning a medal in Rio.
The medal hope has gone here, Florence has lost too much time. Two big mistakes.
No! Huge mistake. Florence was turned around and paddling upstream...
Here we go. David Florence waits. Paddle in, push off. Hold your breath...

It's going to take a much improved performance from David Florence from the semi-final. There were too many mistakes in the top half of the course.
Matej Benus leads. 95.02 seconds. There's the marker for David Florence...
Benus is inside the fastest time, but there's a mistake at gate 19...
Here's one of the favourites, Slovakia' Matej Benus. At 6ft 5in, he's got a huge reach. It's Benus, then David Florence.
I should mention that of these 23 gates, eight of them are back upstream. Bicep burning. Portugal's Jose Carvalho has just completed the course, the second man to do so. Neither he or American Casey Eichfeld will be in the medals.

I am mostly certainly confident in David Florence. He made mistakes in the last round but he is a focused character and will be better in the final than he was in the semi-final.
