Andy Murray, all-round good egg. Not only does he whack some balls into the stands, drawing jumps and whoop-whooping from one bloke who takes a catch, but he also gets done in time for us to devote all of our attention to David Florence. Wetsuit, helmet and paddle at the ready...

That will do nicely. Andy Murray's defence of his Olympic title marches on, with sterner tests surely to come. Juan Monaco has been brushed aside like a pesky mosquito. A third-round tie against Italy's Fabio Fognini or Frenchman Benoit Paire is up next.

If the cameras scan to the back row at the very top of Centre Court you will notice a row of vociferous TeamGB fans. They're from Lenmington Spa and have come to Brazil for a "holiday of a lifetime". What a trip - volleyball yesterday, tennis today, rugby sevens tomorrow. A summer never to forget.

They can raise the decibels too, roaring "come on Andy" with every picture-perfect shot the Briton hits, and there have been quite a few.

    Murray 6-3 4-1 Monaco

I'm a big fan of Olympic-related art. On Centre Court, Juan Monaco has stopped the rot in the second set while, on Court One, Johanna Konta can finally get under way after something of a shock result. Russia's Evgeny Donskoy has beatn David Ferrer in three sets. Ferrer was a potential quarter-final opponent for Andy Murray.

There are a few flag-waving British fans on Centre Court, applauding as Andy Murray secures a second break in the second set. Indeed, a few have gone for Union flag face paint. I'm not sure that's a good idea in the heat. You could end up as a sweaty red and blue mess.

Not much wind about for the Finn sailors to work with, about six to eight knots so far, and overhearing a colleague in the media centre describe it as "all over the shop" gives you an idea of the congested nature of the field as they work their way around the first three marks.

You can see why the Finn, a heavyweight dinghy, is classed as the most tactical and physical one-person boat in the Olympic regatta.

If David Florence goes at 18:03, Andy Murray might be done and dusted in time to watch him. The world number two breaks at the first opportunity in the second set. Juan Monaco might have a great deal of time left at these Olympics.

The quarter-finalists have a real challenge. there is a change in the course.

This does not have the same drop as some other courses on the international circuit but certainly has the same power.

And so to the water, the rapids, the gates.

Great Britain's medal tally could swell a little today and this place will surely be part of that.

David Florence is hoping to be one of the 10 of the 14 paddlers that will progress to the final a little later on.

He's world number one, he's world champion, so it's a rock solid chance.

The course has been changed today after complaints by team bosses so adjustments will need to be made but boy does he have the class to make them.

With Murray looking in good shape, I can also point you in the direction of possible further British success. The semi-finals of the men's C1 canoeing are about to get under way, with David Florence very much in medal contention. The semis begin at 17:30, with Florence set to go at 18:03. So far, so good for Andy Murray. The defending champion takes the first set against Juan Monaco, an ace completing the job after he missed the first two set points. As shade sweeps across the court, Murray takes a step closer to the third round.

While Murray closes in on that one-set lead, there's been some early success for Great Britain in the pool.

Duncan Scott has just set British record in the men's 100m freestyle heats. A time 48.01 seconds has put the Scot through to the semi-finals.
