    Indian writer and columnist "Jackie Collins" - the pseudonym of Shobha Rajadhyaksha, also known as Shobhaa De, has come under fire and sparked a debate about India's performance at the Rio Olympics after mocking the country's athletes, saying that their goal in Rio was to take selfies and calling the performance "a waste of money and opportunity", the Times of India reports.

    The next twist and turn on the rower rollercoaster is just around the corner.

    One of Team GB's youngest gold medallist at the London 2012 is at risk of being kicked out of the rowing double sculls.

    Katherine Copeland won Britain's first women's double-sculls lightweight gold four years ago with rowing partner Sophie Hosking. 

      But after coming fifth yesterday with new partner Charlotte Taylor, she has one last chance to stay in the running for a medal in the 15:20 repechage race.

    The emotions within the British supporters have fluctuating wildly within the last few minutes.

    First, Katherine Grainger and Vicky Thornley gave everyone a huge boost as they reach their women's double sculls finals in confident fashion.

    The lightweight men's four missing out on the final then tempered the mood somewhat before John Collins, fresh from helping the men's double reach their final, turned up. 

    A couple of a huge hugs delivered to his parents and everyone is smiling again. "Can somebody wake me up," says mum Katharine of Collins, who's making his Olympic debut. "I feel like I'm dreaming."

    Whatever gongs Adam Peaty has got coming to him, it will be difficult to top this.

    The National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham have celebrated his 100m breaststroke victory by naming their golden puffer fish ‘Adam Peaty’.

    Pretty literal that. I'm not sure than fish need surnames. But a lovely gesture nonetheless.

    Catalonia's primary TV channel, TV3, has caused controversy after using an icon of the Catalan flag to identify Spanish cyclist Joaquim Rodriguez when presenting a chart with the results of a race that took place on the first day of the Games, reports La Vanguardia.

    Meanwhile, a fan was spotted at the Olympic handball match between Spain and Montenegro wearing a FC Barcelona shirt and waving a Spanish flag. However, once he realised he was on camera, he hastily switched his flag for a Catalan one. Watch that incident here., external

    "It's very small. You have to be very familiar with the Chinese flag to understand that. However, we need to correct it," said Mario Andrada, Rio 2016 Olympic Games executive communications director. 

    Yeah, I'm sure the Chinese will understand that is an honest mist....oh.

    “The national flag is the symbol of a nation! No problems are permissible!" said state broadcaster China Central Television said on its official Weibo microblog.
