Andy Murray, sporting a T-shirt that is white on the front and blue on the back, completes his warm-up by belting a few serves into an open court. Fabio Fognini, frankly a ridiculously handsome man, takes a big gulp of water. Murray to serve first and get us under way on Centre Court.

Here comes Andy Murray, looking like he may have had a haircut recently. It's not long before he places a familiar white cap on his head and starts to knock up with his Italian opponent,

A meeting with American Steve Johnson is the prize for the winner.

Big celebration from Nadal. What a fabulous Olympic Games he is having.

I don't think he would be playing here if it wasn't the Olympics.

With the women's singles draw a round ahead of the men's, Konta will meet Germany's Angelique Kerber for a place in the last four.

It's about to get pretty busy for Great Britain.

Not only do we have canoeing to look forward to, but Andy Murray will soon continue the quest to defend his title by meeting Fabio Fognini for a place in the quarter-finals.

He's due on court now following Rafael Nadal's straight sets win over Gilles Simon.

But, on golf's momentous day, it is a British competitor that has been making history.

Justin Rose, the 2013 US Open champion, became the first man to hit a hole in one in an Olympic golf competition.

If tradition is upheld, he'll be buying everyone a round in a Copacabana beach bar this evening.

Away from the water, it's been a historic day for the Olympic movement, with golf returning to the Games for the first time since 1904.

Australia's Marcus Fraser is the early leader after carding nine birdies in a first-round total of 63. He's eight under par and three shots ahead of the field.

And into the final they go. David Florence and Richard Hounslow had a few hairy moments from where we were sitting, they clipped one gate to pick up a two-second penalty, but it's all good as they are in the top 10.

Horns blaring from the galleries here as they came down and get this, they end third on the semi-final board to that means they start third from last in the final.

The gold medal winners in the C1 and K1 this week both started third from last. Omen? Good place to be?

The final is underway at 18:15 BST.

So for an Olympian who retired after the London 2012 Games but then got the bug again, will she back to do it all in 2020?

"No. I'm looking forward to having a lie-in," she tells the waiting press pack.

Grainger is then mobbed en route to speak to BBC 5 live, exchanging words with double Olympic champion James Cracknell before going on air.

He will be able to pass on some tips about life on the other side.

Media and fans alike are waiting for Katherine Grainger in the mixed zone.

Worth hanging on for GB's most decorated female Olympian, though, a 40-year old who has defied the odds after a mixed season alongside partner Vicky Thornley but has finished it in glory.

Very few expected her to get silver and yet there was minor diappointment in the crowd after the British boat led for most of the race. On reflection, this will go down as a success
