Kenya said sprint coach John Anzrah "presented himself" as 800m medal hope Ferguson Rotich and "even signed the documents" for the doping test.

"We cannot tolerate such behaviour," said Kip Keino, chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya.

The athlete's agent, Marc Corstjens, said Rotich lent Anzrah his pass so the coach could get a free breakfast in the Olympic Village on Wednesday.

Two pieces of history in the same swim final? Rio, you are spoiling us.

"This medal is not just for me, it's for some of the African-Americans who have been before me and been inspirations. I hope I can be an inspiration for others," she said.

"It means a lot to me, especially what's going on in the world today and some of the issues with police brutality."

After a dead heat though, Manuel shared the top step of the podium with 16-year-old Canadian Penny Oleksiak .

She is the first athlete to win Olympic gold who was born this side of 1 January 2000.

Google has produced a fascinating alternative medal table for the Games - taking into account factors such as population, GDP, number of sports fans, a love for the Olympics and healthy eating. Team GB are doing particularly well in the GDP stakes...

But they still lag behind Fiji and Kosovo. The official Google explainer of this is: "Big country. Small country. Everyone earns. But what happens when we make the playing field equal?"
