Kirani James looked very strong, but I'm not sure if the psychological advantage goes to him. LaShawn Merritt played this very well and ran a very good race.

We are disappointed that we had this situation with two of the three favourites in the same race.

Britain's Sonny Webster lifted 148kg in the snatch and 185kg in the clean and jerk to post a total of 333kg in the men's 94kg competition.

Webster, who defied a lack of funding to reach the Games, ranked sixth in Group B.

Webster said: "That was the most amazing experience of my life being up there on that platform. You only get six minutes up there so I wanted to make sure I looked around and took it all in.

"The Games have been amazing. There are so many of my heroes around and to get to not only have a picture with them but to chat with Andy Murray and Justin Rose has been brilliant."

    Michael Johnson

Katarina Johnson-Thompson is also thinking of last year (recording three no jumps in the heptathlon long jump at the World Championships) so you start to go into a defensive mode and think 'how do I survive' instead of thinking 'how am I going to win?'.

She is thinking she will be reading headlines of 'she has done it again' and that is a bad place to be.
