Everyone, say hello to Ben and Roxanne Portnori from London. They're on their way to the Velodrome but are a tad late. The taxi driver took a left when he should've taken a right, a right when he should've taken a left. Let's not talk about it. Spirits have not been dampened however.

Funny who you bump into in Rio... Wales and Lions wing George North is at the velodrome to watch his girlfriend Becky James. The TeamGB cyclist is through to the second round in the Keirin so he, and Becky's sisters Megan and Ffion (also in the picture), are happy. Wales and GB flags have been stuck onto the railings so it must feel like home from home for James.

A fine morning on the track all in all for Britain - James progressing and a world record for the women's team pursuit in the first round.

A reminder, should you not have been with us at 0300 BST, of the hep heads-up for Day Two: here are the PBs for Saturday's concluding three events for current gold/silver/bronze/fourth:

    Long jump: Jessica Ennis-Hill 6.63m, Nafi Thiam 6.51, Akela Jones 6.80, Katarina Johnson-Thompson 6.93

    Javelin: JEH 48.33m, Thiam 52.62, Jones 38.97, KJT 42.01

    800m: JEH 2:07.81, Thiam 2:17.28, Jones 2:21.62, KJT 2:07.64.

Caveat: Ennis-Hill quite rightly prefers to reference to PPPBs - post-pregnancy personal bests. And don't rule Brianne Thiesen Eaton out of the battle for bronze.
