It looks like the Christine Ohuruogu of old. She is a very strong 400m runner and she is able to use that strength down the home straight to finish second.

She runs a very evenly-paced race. That experience she has as an Olympic champion paid off.

And there is a good chance that Great Britain could sign off on a golden note.

The Germans are the arch-villains determined to wreck Team GB's best-laid plans.

It's a narrative that has been done plenty of times before. But it is rivalry redux that is always welcome.

Making your debut at 39 years of agepublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

When a bloke wearing a wig like this pops into view, you just got to say hello.

This is Dan Kaplan, the husband of Trinidad and Tobago rower Felice Chow, who at 39 years old, is making her Olympic debut.

So what took her so long? "She's been doing a Phd in pharmacology for the last 10 years so even though she rowed when she was younger, she just didn't have time," Dan says. "Then when that finished she started winning masters events, so was looking for a new challenge, and thought 'why not the Olympics?'"

Indeed. Chow finished fourth in the D final of the women's single sculls earlier today, but Dan says she has had amazing time at her first Games. And we all got to see his wig, too. Happy days.
