He won't be getting too many butterflies as he waits for condition to die down and the racing to get under way.

Third birdie in five holes for Justin Rose and he moves to 15 under. 

Sweden's Henrik Stenson matches him though to remain just one behind.

With a six-shot gap to third place it is a straight-out battle between these two for gold.

The two British athletes are safely home in the women's marathon. A top 30 finish for Aly Dixon, who crosses the line doing the Fabio Borini celebration in a time of 2:34:11, and not far behind - Sonia Samuels in 2:34:36. 

Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina of Russia are facing Timea Bacsinszky and Martina Hingis of Switzerland in the women's doubles final.

There are not a lot of people facing the court from the stands though.

When Jemima Sumgong gets back to the Olympic Village, you can bet your bottom dollar there will be meetings and she will be back running London Marathon in 2017. 

Ireland's Seamus Power has hit his sixth birdie of the final round as he moves onto -7, with Justin Rose still leading the way.

But big props for the United States pair of Shalane Flanagan and Desiree Linden who come sixth and seventh respectively.

There have been a lot of DNF's in this marathon. The way that some of these athletes are staggering across the line is telling. The conditions have been so difficult. I think this course has taken a lot out of these women. 

Handshakes all round as Great Britain are disposed of 3-0 by the Chinese favourites.
