Great Britain's women's eight cox Zoe DeToledo explains they started off calling each other "sassy" as a bit of a joke.

Speaking to Hazel Irvine on BBC One she said, "Fran (Houghton) was being sassy, giving someone some back-chat one day and it's something we've gone with as a bit of fun and now it's taken off in an unfortunate way. I think it's annoying people so I think we want it to keep on going but the racing you saw was sassy. They kept their heads, kept cool and carried on going".

Houghton who was first on the GB rowing team in 1995 says the women's eight has been building to this point for years.

We have an outstanding coach in James Harris and it might seem like we've punched out this year but when I joined this group I was like, "wow, we can do it".

Katie Greves, Melanie Wilson, Polly Swann, Jessica Eddie, Olivia Carnegie-Brown, Karen Bennett and Zoe Lee made up the rest of the silver medal winning team and you can watch their winning moment here.

It is a right royal rumble on the Rio golf course.

Justin Rose sees Henrik Stenson pull up alongside him at 13 under with a birdie on the second.

The Englishman responds in kind to reestablish his lead on the third.

Earlier Rose had been given a free drop as a spectator tried to stop his ball following an errant tee shot.

Pete Reed, now a three-time Olympic Champion, said the win was "very special but we've done it. It's is hard to get your words together in 24 hours. How we've done it is our coach Jurgen Grobler. He found the way to get the best out of us. Yesterday in his words was a masterpiece and all credit to him".

Also a three-time gold medal winner, Andy Triggs Hodge has yet more praise for their coach Jurgen Grobler. "We are 11 very passionate individuals. We manage to embrace our individual strengths, accept our weaknesses and form the crew together under that model."

Matt Gotrel says it was "one of the easiest races I've done because we've sat there lapping it up really!

"When we came through halfway knowing that everything we had done had basically worked a treat, we just sat there watching everyone fighting it out behind us."

Andy Triggs Hodge has a bit of advice for visitors to Brazil - "You can't go anywhere without one of these bad boys," he says holding up a coconut."

Alex Gregory's son is apparently "so non-nonplussed by it all at the moment because he has never known his dad not rowing. Hopefully one day he will go into school and his friends will search his dad's name and they will think it's cool".

Constantine Louloudis: "The coach Jurgen Grobler has a system and it works and he drives us pretty hard and every time the guys have ground out a result."

Moe Sibihi: "Thirteen years of hard work. A bronze in London was a bitter sweet moment. It feels really good to having it round our necks..."

George Nash: "It was a medium to large night out last night."

"We have a bit of a culture that the team is bigger than the individual, so it would be a surprise if the four of us came back in four years' time."

The odds are good for in jumping qualification. Sixty of the 75 riders will advance to the next phase.

Great Britain's Ben Maher and his horse Tic Tac should be among them after matching team-mate Nick Skelton's four penalties over the barriers.

Perhaps more important than the individual progression is that this round decides the order in which nations ride in the team competition.
