USA's Caleb Paine leads the race in front of Giles Scott.

The pair exchange a few words with each other as the pass by - extremely casual stuff.

Paine has a chance of nicking a bronze medal. Focus, Caleb.

Pole vault king Sergey Bubka is in the Olympic Arena. He gives compatriot Oleg Verniaiev his parallel bars gold. It's a good job the favourite did win.

Next it will be the women's floor and perhaps this will be the last time we see Simone Biles at an Olympics.

If he so wished, Giles Scott could sail his finn with his feet today and still win gold.

The Briton is having none of that though and is second in this medal race at the halfway point.

He'll be claiming that gold medal in style if this carries on.

    Synchronised Swimming

Russia's Natalia Ischenko and Svetlana Romashina were the favourites for gold in the women's duet synchronised swimming and with good reason.

They've just gone to the top of the standings with a total score of 194.9910, a huge 15 points clear of second-placed Canada.

    Gold surely awaits...

So, that's the men's parallel bars done and dusted.

Two more gymnastics gold medals remain up for grabs at Rio 2016 - and they'll be decided in the next hour or so, with British interest at the double.

First off, at 18:47 BST it's the women's floor exercise final, with GB's Amy Tinkler involved as American teenager Simone Biles goes for gold number four at Rio 2016.

Then at 19:34 BST it's the men's horizontal bars final with Nile Wilson flying the flag for Britain at the Rio Olympic Arena.

    Watch it here.

All of the emotion poured out of Giles Scott at the end of the last race. Now this is time to enjoy it.

So, to be clear, GB's Giles Scott doesn't even need to finish this race to win finn gold.

He could have a sail down the coast to Uruguay if he wanted. Crack out a bottle of Cava perhaps. Listen to the Shipping Forecast.

The world really is his oyster.

I don't think anyone would begrudge Giles Scott the gold medal.

    He has dominated this class.

It's still goalless in the last-four match at the Maracana.

Sweden have been more adventurous in attack but chances have been few and far between.

Germany play 2012 bronze medallists Canada later.

Why has Giles Scott never won an Olympic medal?

Because the guy below has hogged all the finn golds since 2004. Sir Ben Ainslie has dominated the heavyweight dinghy and GB even won it in 2000 with Iain Percy.

It's been a 20 years since a Briton has not been Olympic champion in this event.

    And away they go...

Giles Scott has four world championship golds and two European golds to his name in the finn.

But the man from Huntingdon does not have and Olympic gold in the heavyweight dinghy.

In around 30 minutes - that will change.

You don't spell gold with an I or a T. But we're about to dot the former and cross the latter as Giles Scott goes on the wettest lap of honour in history in around 15 minutes.

The Briton is already guaranteed gold - time for a splash around.

Unbelievable. Tom Burton has an Australian flag and is standing as proud as punch on his boat, blue and red, wite stars waving above him.

He was down in eighth in that race but stormed through to finish third. Leader Tonci Stipanovic came in ninth and is knocked down silver - but that's Croatia's first ever sailing medal.

    New Zealand's Sam takes bronze.

GB's Nick Thompson is sixth overall.
