If you like your Olympics with a decent dollop of humour then you have to tune into BBC Four. Dan Walker has been absolute gold.

A few days ago he grabbed a word with a bride called Maria who was on her hen party and tonight he's just been speaking to Maria's mum.

Hilariously random entertainment. Perfect post pub viewing for those of you following in the UK.

Jason Kenny joins Sir Chris Hoy at the top of the tree on six golds medals after his victory tonight.

"It is amazing," says his mum, "I think he will be very proud."

The race was was not without drama with two restarts adding to the tension.

"It was horrendous with all the restarts," mum said.

Dad added: "We weren't cool but he was. He has done lots of racing in the event and you never know what will be left in his legs at the end of it."

It sounds as though Laura's dad could do with less drama from his son-in-law to be.

"I think we were all distressed watching Jason, he never makes easy for us," he said.

  6. 'Laura was like most children'published at 00:16 British Summer Time 17 August 2016

    Team GB families

BBC One have been interviewing the families of Team GB's cycling heroes.

First up is Laura Trott's mum who described the night as "amazing" and added: "It is nerve wracking sitting on the side, we shake and sweat but all worth it."

Britain's most successful female Olympian's dad was asked what Laura was like cycling as a child. "I think she was competitive but no more than most children," he said.

"People were always saying she was good on a bike but it still amazes us how easy she made it look, it is not easy but she was so comfortable and natural."

High-fives, bear hugs, back slaps - it's going to be quite a celebration for Britain's diving team once their Games are over. Tom Daley jogs over to Jack Laugher to congratulate his team-mate. Two Olympic medals for the Briton. One just doesn't seem enough for anyone in Team GB in Rio.

Spine-tingling reaction within Riocentro - Pavilion 6, as Brazil's Robson Conceicao is cheered to a points victory against France's Sofiane Oumiha, and is exalted when his achievement is confirmed.

Conceicao grew up on the streets of Salvador, and is now his country's first ever boxing Olympic champion, at a home Games to boot.

Right, on with the rest of the show. Let's take a look at some of the things we've got coming up over the next few hours.
