Great Britain are working hard. Every time the Black Sticks have the ball, red shirts stream back. Shot from distance, kicked away by GB keeper Maddie Hinch.

NZ had barely been in the GB half in this quarter, but are attacking after going behind. Night falling now, a British fan decked out in the Union flag clapping the ladies in red. Just over six minutes until half-time.

It so often happens off the penalty corner rebounds that it is the goal scorers who react first.

It was a good save but Alex Danson was quickest to it and it is Brooke Neal who got the last touch.

Great Britain lead! From the penalty corner, there's a save, but Alex Danson is the fox in the box to pounce on the loose ball and flick over the Kiwi keeper. GB, who have never made an Olympic final, are ahead in the semi.

Sophie Bray wasn't that far away from that cross. It was a brilliant ball in.

GB still right to left, Sophie Bray still being a nuisance. She's trying to get on the end of Lily Owsley's cross, but can't get the touch.

Second quarter under way...

And she's through! Tonia Couch nails a score of 64.40 points for her fifth and final dive  - the reverse 2½ somersaults. It's not her best, but is enough to seal passage into the semi-final. 

Sadly, Sarah Barrow looks very unlikely to join her. She scores a 60.80 with her final dive for a 277.40. That puts her 10th but with a few more dives to come from her competitors, she's unlikely to keep her place in the top 18 and qualify.
