"There have been so many great messages that I have received from fans back home and here in Brazil," he said.

"It is completely unexpected and made me feel so much better.

"The best athletes are tested with adversity and have come through it this is my second Olympics and it is my second time on the podium so I have a lot to be proud of."

Tom used the word heartbroken and that sums it up.

He dived so well yesterday and he just could not connect, he was slightly out all day.

Tom quite rightly said it was one of those things. He left himself too much to do on that final dive and I felt physically sick afterwards and that was only a portion of what Tom was feeling.

The positive for me was that Tom said he wanted to go to Tokyo and I am delighted to hear that.
