Okagbare, who was one of Dina Asher-Smith's rivals in the 100m, tested positive for human growth hormone in an out-of-competition test on 19 July, said the Athletics Integrity Unit.

I think that symbolises the last 10 years of British triathlon. We have worked so hard as a federation to get to this point. I think that has summed it up. Hopefully they have inspired the next generation. Hopefully in Paris and Los Angeles this is a familiar sight.

The triumphant team continue to speak to Matthew Pinsent on BBC One:

Georgia Taylor-Brown on how she took on her leg: "I just tried to not panic. Jonny gave me such a big lead. I knew I had a bit of time to just chill out and not stress too much about it because that’s where things can go wrong. I just wanted a comfortable swim and bike and I knew I needed to give everything that last run lap and give everything I could for little ‘Yee-boy!’"

Alex Yee: "I was pretty scared taking over. These guys had done the perfect race up to that point – we had the three best people doing each leg and I wanted to do it justice. In my mind I wasn’t going to do anything less than trying to get the win.

"When Luis came past I knew I just had to get on there. I know my run’s my strength so I just went for it. It’s amazing to be here and do it with these great guys."

Brownlee on closing out his career: "That’s probably it for my Olympic career – I’ve got all the medals. The Olympics is always a special event and this one is even more special after what everyone’s been through and to do it as a team is absolutely amazing"

The triumphant team spoke to Matthew Pinsent, after their gold-medal performance:

Jess Learmonth: "I can’t believe it. I was slightly nervous being in a team with Olympic medallist."

Jonny Brownlee: "Olympics – I’ve completed it! It feels absolutely amazing. Third Olympics and to finally walk away with Olympic gold.

"We knew coming into this race there was a lot of pressure on us, we all had to race very well and do everything right, and that’s what we did.

"Well done to everyone but Alex taking over and it seemed like the best position but it’s probably the worst position because all you can do is lose it. He kept his cool, kept his head and the to girls were absolutely brilliant – we did everything we possibly could."
