Katie Ledecky has a 10th Olympic medal and a seventh gold.

She clocked 8:12.57, with Australia's Ariarne Titmus home on 8:13.83. Simona Quadarella of Italy gets bronze on 8:18.35.

    That's the house. Katie's house.

Katie Ledecky wins the 800m freestyle, just as she did in Rio, just as she did in London.

    Women's 800m freestyle

Katie Ledecky from Ariarne Titmus 650m, Simona Quadarella of Italy - who could definitely be a Sampdoria striker with a name like that - is in third. The bell, 100m to go, starting playing the Star-Spangled Banner.

Ledecky just stretching ahead but she still needs to keep going, because Titmus has not been shaken off and looks good.

    Women's 800m freestyle

Perhaps no surprise that Katie Ledecky is moving like a Great White at halfway in the women's 800m freestyle. She has over a second on Ariarne Titmus of Australia. A long way to go but the American is cruising.

She only has six gold medals at the Olympics so perhaps her lack of experience will weigh on her like those pyjamas you had to wear to get a life saving badge in the pool in school.

    Women's 100m hurdles

Cindy Sember qualifies automatically for Sunday's semi-finals despite finishing fourth in her heat in a time of 13:00. That time will have to come down if she is to make Monday's final.

Katie Ledecky up next in the pool. Just the nine Olympic medals to her name.

If she wins gold she would tie for becoming the most successful female swimmer in Olympic history.

    No pressure.

We talk a lot about easy speed in the backstroke - conserve as much energy as you can in the first half.

It's an amazing back half and Kaylee McKeown won it magnificently. Adds the 200m gold to her 100m for a clean sweep.

Joy in the stands, golden joy as the Australian colours clap a gold medal for Kaylee McKeown in the women's 200m backstroke.

Emily Seebohm of Australia grabs bronze, with Canada's Kylie Masse splitting them.

Great Britain picked up gold in triathlon mixed relay earlier to get close to Australia on the medal table. That swim has just cancelled out the gain.

Learned to walk againpublished at 02:43 British Summer Time 31 July 2021

    Women's 100m hurdles

Cindy Sember finished fourth at the 2016 Olympics – an agonising two thousandths of a second away from bronze medallist Kristi Castlin.

That mental anguish has been replaced by physical pain for much of the subsequent five years. In 2017 she suffered an Achilles rupture in a race in Boston and had to learn to walk again after her operation.

Sember spent 2018-20 trying to rediscover her form. She’s managed it in 2021 – lowering her personal best to 12.53 seconds and consistently running under 12.60 seconds.

    Women's 100m hurdles

Meanwhile, back at the Olympic Stadium there is strong Team GB interest in the heats of the women's 100m hurdles which are about to get under way.

Cindy Sember will be looking to improve on her fourth placed finish at Rio in 2016. She goes at 02:45 BST in heat one.

Then her sister Tiffany Porter is in action in heat five at 03:17. World record holder Kendra Harrison of the USA is in heat two at 02:53.

The first four in each heat qualify for Sunday's semi-finals along with the next four fastest qualifiers.

    Dressel wins 100m butterfly gold

Caeleb Dressel clocked 49.45, Kristof Milak of Hungary brought it home in 49.68.

    Three golds for the American.

He could finish these Olympics as one of the most successful swimmers at an individual Games as he is in contention for a further three medals - in the 50m freestyle and the medley and mixed medley.

Only two swimmers in Olympic history have won more than six medals at a Games - Michael Phelps with eight in Beijing in 2008 and Mark Spitz with seven in Munich in 1972.

There's a good chance Duncan Scott could make history this weekend, but it won't be today.

He needs one more medal to become the first British athlete in any sport to win four medals at one Olympics, but he's not in the mixed relay team this morning. Kathleen Dawson, Adam Peaty, James Guy, Anna Hopkin are the quartet picked.

Scott will instead have to wait until tomorrow for his shot at history when he competes in the men’s medley relay.
