If you're just joining us, here's what you might have missed this morning.

We had gold medals in sailing earlier, to join John Gimson and Anna Burnet's silver medals in the last few minutes.

There was also a stunning world record on the athletics track, before GB's women's team pursuit broke the record on the cycling track a few moments ago.

We're still following Jack Laugher in the diving too. He's currently in bronze medal position with two rounds of dives to go.

It's another medal for Great Britain in the sailing as John Gimson and Anna Burnet take silver in the mixed Nacra 17 class.

Italy's Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti win the gold, with Germany's Paul Kohlhoff and Alica Stuhlemmer sealing enough points to take the bronze.

Women’s balance beam final

Guess who is limbering up in the Ariake Gymnastics Centre.

Can Simone Biles salvage her Tokyo Olympics with a first gold of these Games? She is up in the women’s balance beam final from around 09:50 BST onwards.

No problems for Jack Laugher today. That is the Jack Laugher of old. He used to finish on this dive, it used to be his 'baby' and it is back to baby status right there. Nice and steady, keeping that pressure on the athletes still to go.

Wow. GB have won and the world record has gone. Sensational.

Katie Archibald and Neah Evans then lock wheels around the top bend and hit the deck. Hopefully both will be okay for later on.

That wasn't perfect, more splash than we expected from Jack Laugher.

Jack Laugher is still diving well.

He picks up 81.00 in his fourth round dive - which won't be enough to overtake the Chinese but he's still among the medals.

Teenager Wang Zongyuan stays ahead of Laugher but he's not challenging Xie Siyi. He picks up a 94.50 and that gives him a 21-point lead at the top. He's smashing it.

Some gaps appearing in the lines of both teams. GB have got a slight edge?

A victory here would see them defend their Olympic title a little later on.

Back to sailing and as it stands in the mixed Nacra 17 class, Great Britain are in silver medal position.

John Gimson and Anna Burnet are behind Italy who are set to take gold, with Australia leading the battle for bronze.

There is still time for the British pair to take the gold, but they've got work to do.

Unfortunately James is diving out this final now without finesse or pizzazz, not like we saw in the earlier rounds. A little bit of mind-body disconnect going on, maybe.

There was a second between these teams in qualifying but neither of them performed well. The USA and Team GB both fell apart in the closing stages and they will be hoping to improve on that.

Track cycling anyone?

Katie Archibald, Laura Kenny, Neah Evans and Josie Knight are under way in the women's team pursuit against the USA in a repeat of the 2016 final from Rio.

James Heatly isn't at the level he was in the semi-finals. He's down in seventh after a tame fourth round dive.

GB compatriot Jack Laugher up next.

Team USA's bid for a fourth men's basketball title is still alive after they beat Spain 95-81 in the quarter-finals with 28 points from Kevin Durant.

They will face either Argentina or Australia, who play later, in the semi-finals.

British sailing success has not gone unnoticed by one of the absolute greats.

Sir Ben Ainslie won medals at five consecutive Olympics from 1996 onwards, including gold at the four consecutive Games (Sydney, Athens, Beijing and London) .

Nice and steady, Jack. Just a bit of splash as he enters the water. Really strong take off, excellent technical work, superb aerial work.

Because of that splash, he gets eights instead of nines from the judges.

Zongyuan Wang moves ahead of Jack Laugher but that was his big dive and he's not picked up a blockbuster score. He's currently in second on 256.50.

Xie Siyi is impressing though. He moves up to first and leads with 267.30. GB's Jack Laugher is in third with 252.35.

There's a little bit of splash on landing but that's still okay from Jack Laugher.

81.60 is the score but he isn't happy with it. China will look to respond.
