Men's pole vault
Team GB pole vaulter Harry Coppell on his seventh place finish at the Olympics: "It has just been amazing, I am still in a little bit of disbelief that I was in an Olympic final. But I went out and I jumped as well as I could.
I am a little bit gutted to not get the PB because that would have put me in the fight for a medal but I am just so happy.
"It has been brilliant, that was one of the best sessions I have had in months, then the training sessions just started getting better and better.
Physically I was feeling great and my volume was looking really good. Even better than when I was rolling in 2020.
"The [accident involving my teeth] was a bit of a mishap, but if I had broken nose I wouldn't have been able to breathe. All I had to do was see the dentist a couple of times so I can smile right now."
Japan 0-1 Spain - men's football semi-final
Marco Asensio's 115th minute winner has sent Spain to the men's football final.
Hosts Japan fall to the floor as their hopes of winning a gold are crushed. They will instead meet Mexico in the bronze medal match, whilst Spain will take on Rio 2016 champions Brazil for the gold on Saturday.

What an end to a thrilling night of athletics that would have been.

She is the first female athlete to win three separate gold medals at three Olympic Games.
China's Zheng Wang takes the silver in front of Malwina Kopron, also of Poland.

"I just focused on the 200 metres, I believe I could do better. I will just see what will happen in the future.
"Namibia will be so happy and so proud of me to take the medal back to the land of the brave."
Women's 200m final
Elaine Thompson-Herah on winning another gold medal in the 200m: "Honestly I just need to sleep, I have not slept since the 100 metres, honestly my body is in shock mode, but I still had my composure to come out here.
"I knew my time wouldn't be fast because yesterday we ran two rounds, which took a lot from me, I equalled my PB last night. So to come out to get a national record and two-time Olympian I am so happy.
"I was begging for the line, but you have to hold your technique through the line. I know my grandma is celebrating right now.
"It feels good to be in the history book, to set a barrier for the other generation of athletes coming up because we have got a lot of athletes coming from Jamaica, it means a lot to me to set this barrier.
"Everyone who supports me and believes in me, a big thank you to them."

Women's 200m final
Daley Thompson

Absolutely unbelievable from Elaine-Thompson-Herah. The woman is a legend. She was so far in front and looked fantastic. She was controlled, relaxed and ran that very quickly.
Men's pole vault
He's done it! Sweden's Armand Duplantis is miles in front of the others and cleares 6.02m to take the men's pole vault gold.
But he's not leaving it there. He's going for the world record!
Can he break his own world record? 6.19m is the target.

I didn't think Elaine Thompson-Herah was in the running, but she came through like a steam train! That was brilliant. I want to see her in the 400m so hopefully she is smart and preserves herself for that. She has come in alongside seasoned athletes and run the race of her life.

These are some amazing races. That 200m was electric.
That was incredible, as we predicted Elaine Thompson-Herah was going to be out, but Gabby Thomas found it again. She ran a 21.6 at the Olympic trials, we didn't feel like it was a fluke but we questioned if she could reproduce that.
