Jake Heyward has run a brilliant race.

I'm so impressed with Jake there. He looked good following McSweyn in the home straight, he had swagger, he looked comfortable.

Here's Jake Wightman, who finished third in his 1500m heat: "You've got to compromise a bit with running wide here. You saw the falls there - you can get caught up in it. It felt pretty smooth for me so I can't complain.

"You underestimate how hot it's going to be in here, that's the biggest shock. The sun's out in the morning and it's much harder work than it should be, I'm glad that the next race is in the evening.

"I feel like I'm in the best shape of the season. Whatever happens happens, but let's get to the final first."

    BBC One

Josh Kerr speaking on BBC One: "It was poor all round. I got caught in the middle of things. I made a big move with about 500m to go, which in hindsight probably wasn't the smartest - I should have waited. It's just the way it goes sometimes. I have a tough wait here but hopefully I can scrape through and do some damage in the semis. It's not good enough, really.

"I felt good, it's just that sometimes heats just don't go to plan. I knew I was in trouble with 100m to go and I was scrapping for places. That's racing and I put myself in that position so I can't be too annoyed. It's not what I'd planned."

He put himself in the right position today, he just didn't finish as well as he would have liked to. You have to be able to be strong in that home straight once you've put yourself in a good position.
