    "Tom Dean and Duncan Scott produced the first 1-2 for Great Britain in an Olympic swimming race since 1908 when this was achieved in the men's 200m breaststroke and men's 1500m freestyle. Prior to today, Great Britain had never won a medal in the men's 200m freestyle."

    After receiving a bye to this stage, the Rio 2016 bronze medallist takes on Kazakh Cansel Deniz in the quarter-finals this morning.

    She's won two world titles since taking bronze in Rio five years ago, and also won European gold in April.

    • Triathlon: Britain's Georgia Taylor-Brown produced a superb run to earn a silver medal in the women's triathlon, fighting back from a bike puncture which left her well adrift of the leaders. Bermuda's Flora Duffy claimed a historic first gold medal for her nation.
    • Rugby sevens: Great Britain suffered a 33-7 defeat against Olympic champions Fiji in their Pool B decider. They will face USA in the quarter-finals at 10:00 BST.
    • Swimming: Kaylee McKeown of Australia powered to her first Olympic gold medal after a stunning fightback in the women's 100m backstroke.
    • Taekwondo: Great Britain's Mahama Cho lost to China's Sun Hongyi in the last 16 of the men’s +80kg.
    • Badminton: Britain's Toby Penty beat Kai Schaefer of Germany 21-18 21-11 in his Group K men's singles match.
    • Tennis: Greek third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Frances Tiafoe of the United States in the men's singles. British pair Andy Murray and Joe Salisbury have seen their men's doubles match delayed by rain.
