Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Tom Daley has certainly come ready. The 10m syncro champ, along with Matty Lee, has knocked up a little knitted gold medal case to stop that precious metal getting dinted and dented.

When you have worked so hard for it, it makes sense to look after it.

Murray goes pin huntingpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 27 July 2021

In other news, Andy Murray has developed a hobby at the Olympics - running around collecting pins from other athletes.

“I’ve always enjoyed doing that all of the Olympics. We’ve all been in a bit of a competition," he said.

"We haven’t been given that many pins to exchange, so I’ve been trying to do pins for selfies’ to gain a bit of an edge.

“You end up meeting some interesting people. I met two Syrian brothers, one who’s competing for Syria and one for the refugee team.”

“You meet people from all different backgrounds and that’s one of the things I love about this competition. It brings people together from all over the world, from all different backgrounds. It’s brilliant, I love it.”

    Women's team final

    Beth Tweddle
London 2012 bronze medallist on BBC TV

The work that has gone in behind the scenes for this team and the 18 months they have gone through.

They were 12 weeks out of the gym completely, when we know some of the other countries were still in the gym training.

Ups and downs with trials behind closed doors so they've really had to adapt to the new world.

    I'm speechless!

I felt sick towards the end because I could see they were so close and I just thought you can do this.

GB medal tally getting better and betterpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 27 July 2021

    Simon Gleave
    Head of sports analysis, Gracenote

Prior to the Tokyo Olympics beginning, our Virtual Medal Table, external forecast 52 medals for Great Britain including 14 golds.

After four days, the expectation was that Great Britain would have 10 medals - three gold, five silver and two bronze medals.

Team GB actually has 13 medals - four gold, five silver and four bronze medals.

The forecast for Great Britain has therefore improved to 55 medals including 15 golds. This is likely to be enough for fifth place on the medal table on both total medals and gold medals.
