Here we go. They are off. No shenanigans like the men's race.

Just getting a few pictures of Odaiba Marine Park. It looks pretty grim to be honest. The rain is pouring down and it is blowing a gale.

The competitors and officials are all covered up in waterproof attire.

Not what they had probably imagined waking up to.

So who is staying up to watch Vicky Holland, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Jess Learmonth going for Team GB in the women's triathlon?

I've got a pack of fruit gums and a brew to keep me going for now, though I may have to look at other options in the wee small hours.

How are you planning to follow the coverage? And what are your go-to routines and snacks to stay awake?

Feel free to drop me a line and as ever include pictures if you can.

Thumbs up if you like little bit of early-morning exercise? It's approaching 06:30 on Tuesday in Tokyo and we've got a 1.5km swim, followed by a 40km bike ride and a 10km run coming your way in the women’s triathlon.

There are three Brits all optimistic of getting their hands on a medal. Hopefully the start will go a tad smoother for them than in the men's race.
