Great play there from the Kiwis, creating the space with a three v two and putting it out to the wing man Jordan Rapana. It's a nice neat finish in the corner.

Some good attacking play, built off the back of some good composure.

You could feel it building, New Zealand had been growing more and more confident. It was a fabulous pass and a good finish.

    Jordan Rapana

As I suggested, New Zealand were huffing and puffing and they've finally blown England's house down.

The Kiwis work space on the right touchline and Jordan Rapana, who ended 2016 as the joint leading try scorer in the NRL, races over from close range.

Jordan Kahu misses the kick at goal, but New Zealand are in front for the first time just before the interval.

    England 4-2 New Zealand

As England dab the ball behind and give away another repeat set, you get the sense that they're about to creak under a barrage of New Zealand pressure.

A big six minutes ahead before half-time.

Kyle: Very Impressed with England they are making easy yards going forward and defensively they have been superb so far.

Tim: The FA should encourage football players to play abroad for the national team to become better. England rugby league team showing the benefit.

Oliver Norgate: A real arm wrestle and war of attrition with the two packs. Rugby League at its best.

Jonny Lomax - take a bow, son. What an unbelievable piece of defensive play from the St Helens and England full-back.

Solomone Kata looked for all money as if he had grounded the ball for a New Zealand try, but the video referee spots that Lomax just got there first.

    England survive, but only just.

    England 4-2 New Zealand

After conceding their first points of the match, England now go too long with the kick-off. Gareth Widdop boots it straight out of play and the Kiwis have it back on the halfway line.

"Not what England wanted," says Jonathan Davies on BBC One.

  9. Penalty - England 4-2 New Zealandpublished at 31 mins

    Jordan Kahu

England are penalised for infringing at the play-the-ball and New Zealand decide to go for the two points.

Jordan Kahu, who is one of two New Zealand players being coached at club level by Wayne Bennett, slots over from close range and the Kiwis are on the board.

You just feel that, with the quality that New Zealand have in their ranks, they're going to explode at some point. I think we're going to see some offloads pretty quickly from them - that's where they're most dangerous.

    England 4-0 New Zealand

New Zealand are getting closer. A Shaun Johnson grubber kick causes chaos and Ryan Hall is brought down in goal.

England get possession back, though, as a television replay shows that Kevin Proctor knocked on as the ball bounced high from Johnson's kick.

You have got give New Zealand credit here because England have had the field position but the Kiwi goal-line defence keeps scrambling and keeps turning up for each other.

England will get frustrated if they can't break it, because New Zealand are standing firm.

England may be over for a try here. Has James Graham got it down from close range? Up to the video referee we go...

...who rules that the prop was guilty of a double movement and New Zealand have a penalty.

I've got to say I'm a little worried right now. New Zealand are constantly on the back foot but England have been guilty of overplaying a couple of times.

England have really taken it to New Zealand. They've looked organised and threatening.

England will be pleased at this moment in time because they had to absorb pressure and it's been a tight contest.

They will be happy with their goal-line defence, they stood firm and handled everything New Zealand threw at them.

    England 4-0 New Zealand

Two Gareth Widdop penalties separate the two teams as we pass the midway point of the first half in Huddersfield.

New Zealand winger Jordan Rapana gives away another for obstructing Ryan Hall, but England choose to run it on this occasion... Jermaine McGillvary is over the line, but held in the air and his offload falls into space.

And they're watching England on top at the moment. Thomas Leuluai, who will be back in Super League with Wigan next season, fails to collect a short pass cleanly and England are closing in again... but Josh Hodgson passes forwards and the chance goes.

    England 4-0 New Zealand

England are back on the offensive but it's not the most potent of attacks from Wayne Bennett's side, and a tame kick is easily dealt with by the Kiwis.

England are doing well to deal with the physicality of New Zealand. They're going at New Zealand with a huge pack of forwards and Sam Burgess is leading from the front, as you'd expect him to.
