So, this is how it stands heading into the last round of fixtures next weekend.

England will know what they need to do against Australia next Sunday, after New Zealand's match against Scotland on Friday.

We could be in for a close finish.

    Until then.

I think Australia defend so well. The set-plays don't work against Australia. Everyone works and knows the system and what works for them.

New Zealand looked best tonight when there were off loads and unstructured plays.

England will have one focus to beat Australia. That would have been the goal.

That is a big task but it is certainly do able.

I thought New Zealand’s indiscipline cost them in the end.

Man of the match Australia's Blake Ferguson: "I think it was good work to hold Shaun Johnson up at the end. It was a good performance and a little to build on in the next game.

"We made some silly errors we will look to rectify that."

New Zealand's Shaun Johnson: "We had a chance there but it wasn't to be. We had plenty of opportunites but have just come up short.

"You have got to stay in game against sides like Australia but a few things on last play let us down. We were unable to get the pressure we wanted."

Great finish. It was game of two halves. I don't think Australia had a great deal of attacking in that second half.

You have got to admire New Zealand. They really hung in there to work and work away and make it such an exciting climax.

Shaun Johnson is stopped over the try line by a combination of Greg Inglis, Trent Merrin and Johnathan Thurston.

Johnson tried his best to get the ball down after a jinking, dummying run, but was held up.

    Brilliant Australian defending.

OH MY GOODNESS. IS SHAUN JOHNSON IN??

The referee says no try, but it has gone upstairs for a review.

    A dropout for New Zealand.

When Shaun Johnson gets the ball anything can happen.

Nine out of 10 players wouldn't even try that.
