It's been a feature of all Australia's games, they play for field position and constantly turn you around, forcing you to play deep inside your own half time after time. 

The home side already confusing themselves on the final tackle with skipper Sam Burgess being forced to kick up field.

No harm done though, but finding Widnes man Kevin Brown would have been the better option.

Oh hello.

Barely three minutes in and we see our first flashpoint as England skipper Sam Burgess is given some treatment by Australia's Aaron Woods.

Mmm, tasty.

We're expecting a tight game. Australia already have their place booked in the final next week. England are so desperate to earn theirs. It's great to see urgency and effort in England's defence so early.

England make a strong start with a clean first set, before driving Josh Dugan 10 metres backwards towards his own tryline.

Excellent work from the home pack.

"The bookies have Australia as heavy favourites but it’s been a week of shocks – from reshaped chocolate bars to a reshaped world order. An England victory might just trump the lot."

Australia head coach Mal Meninga: "I think it's close to our Test squad. I think we can go out and enjoy it, but we want to be successful as well every time we step on the footie field. We're great enemies on the rugby league field so it's always good to play against England. They'll be very competitive today so it'll be a really good game of rugby league. 

England assistant coach Denis Betts on Kevin Brown: "He's got a great deal of experience, he's not a child, he's played the game at the highest level. He's had two to three really good years. He's an international class player."

Gareth Widdop tends to go missing in the second half. He's played in the NRL every week, he's played at a high level. He has to bring that experience into the team today alongside Kevin Brown. 

England captain Sam Burgess says people are "wrong" to criticise head coach Wayne Bennett following his controversial interview after the Scotland game last Saturday.

Bennett gave short responses to questions after England’s victory and was branded a disgrace by former Great Britain international Iestyn Harris.

"He has certainly made a difference to the rugby league community," said Burgess.

"People are judging Wayne wrongly from one interview after a game where we have not performed to the level he wanted."

England head coach Wayne Bennett: "We've moved on from New Zealand. We've got a big game here today so that's where we put our focus and attention. I hope we get a bit more direction and Gareth Widdop's back and has to pick his act up a little bit as well. 

"Self-belief is going to come out on the field today, it's not something I can talk to you about. We've done a lot of things right, and it's a good playing group so let's hope they believe."

I just looked up 'blood out of a stone' and saw Wayne Bennett's face next to the definition.
