There's going to be a hell of a scrap for the full-back spot at Wigan once England's Sam Tomkins is fit again.

Morgan Escare, a winter signing from Catalans, is impressing again. This time he turns quickly away under pressure from the advancing Tom Lineham to avoid being tackled in goal.

Disappointment for Warrington as Harvey Livett is denied a run to the line by referee Ben Thaler, who deems that Joe Westerman's pass went forward.

Wigan work the ball out to the left and Liam Marshall runs in from close range for his second try.

The champions, who are without several key players because of injury, are well on top.

    Warrington 0-10 Wigan

It's less than three weeks since Warrington impressively beat Brisbane Broncos in the first match of the World Club Series.

Right now, they're looking a shadow of that team. They're heading for a fourth successive Super League defeat unless they improve quickly.

Warrington need to get into an arm wrestle, get some territory, get some possession. At the moment, Wigan are having it far too comfortable.

Escare has given them a different dimension this season.

    Warrington 0-10 Wigan

Try time again for Wigan, scored by Anthony Gelling but superbly created by Morgan Escare.

The Frenchman breaks quickly and shows a neat sidestep to leave Kurt Gidley for dead. He gets caught by the Warrington chasers, but the ball is recycled out wide for Gelling to touch down.

Escare's kick takes a flick off the upright before bisecting the posts. Wigan go 10-0 up.

    Warrington 0-4 Wigan

A Warrington set in a promising position ends prematurely with a forward pass.

It's just not happening for the Wolves at the moment, but still plenty of time left for them to find their form.

    Warrington 0-4 Wigan

Wigan full-back Morgan Escare is small and slight for a rugby league player, but he shows great strength to clutch a high kick and withstand a huge hit from two Warrington players as he gathered the ball.

    Full-back play at its finest.

Wigan aren't allowing Warrington a second in possession and pivotal to that in the first set after the Warriors' first score was Sam Powell.

The hooker has the longest streak of consecutive appearances in Super League, making his 51st outing in a row in this match.

The sequence began in July 2015, since when he's established himself as a key figure in the champions' side.

    Warrington will feel the pressure, they'll know they're a top-four team, they'll know they're a quality team.

A team of this quality should not have started the way they have. Forget the win against Brisbane, they need the two points.

Warrington are under the pump already.

  14. Marshall scores for Wiganpublished at 6 mins

    Warrington 0-4 Wigan

What a moment for Liam Marshall as, in his second Wigan appearance, he has his first try for the Warriors.

The young winger gets on the end of George Williams' clever grubber kick and touches down in the corner.

Morgan Escare can't add the extra two points, but that's just the start that Wigan wanted.

    Warrington 0-0 Wigan

Both sides have registered their first completed set of six, but with very little prospect of scoring the opening try.

Wigan's reply to Jack Hughes' error came to nothing, by the way.

    Warrington 0-0 Wigan

That's an awful start for Warrington.

Jack Hughes makes a mess of the very first play-the-ball and Wigan have possession 30 metres from the hosts' line.

Warrington full-back Kurt Gidley: "It's been a disappointing start to the year and we as players are responsible for our actions, so we're looking forward to getting our season started."

Wigan head coach Shaun Wane: "Warrington are way too good to be where they're at at the moment, it's a false position. They'll be wanting to turn the corner and they will be thinking this is the game to turn their season around. We need to be ready for that challenge."
