    Salford 14-0 Wakefield

Wakefield have a chink of light here as they get a goal line drop out.

Michael Dobson thumped it behind and Wakey get the ball back. They need an outlet... which evaporates as Keegan Hirst spills in contact.

Salford get the ball back and the opportunity passes. Up to the half hour. Good stuff so far from Ian Watson's side who have lost the past two games.

Wakefield's Bill Tupou meanwhile, was ruled out late on with a hamstring injury.

With my rapidly deteriorating hairline, I have no right to take a pop at anyone's cut but I must just slate Chris Annakin's effort.

I'm struggling to describe it. Other than there's some kind of mini-bun or ponytail in there.

Meanwhile, it's getting a bit of an arm-wrestle here.

    Salford 14-0 Wakefield

The play comes to nothing in the end, after a big couple of drives took Trinity to within a few metres of the line.

Salford clear up on their set and Wakefield find themselves back in their own half.

Salford have been really good. It's easy to criticise how flat Wakefield have been but Salford's red-hot start caught them napping a bit.

Salford have been outstanding. Every carry seems to be a win and every carry seems to be a quick one.

    Salford 14-0 Wakefield

Some ironic cheers as Wakefield get a penalty and Liam Finn wallops it into touch.

Chance for Trinity to have a dig.

No mistake as Salford just nudge the scoreboard on further. Michael Dobson ticks it over and they'll get the ball back off the kick-off.

Might as well just copy and paste the last update. Only it's Logan Tomkins who just nudged the ball into the in-goal.

Salford come up with the ball off the drop-out and then when Ben Murdoch-Masila is apparently the victim of foul play, the home side gets a penalty.

Wakefield under the pump again. BMM (it's quicker than typing it out) up on his feet. Salford a pop at goal...

    Salford 12-0 Wakefield

Salford again kick smart and force the drop out. Big chase caught up with Reece Lyne after a lovely timed Michael Dobson dink.

Wakefield under the cosh again. How do they break the cycle?

  9. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Salford 12-0 Wakefield

All a bit sideways from Wakefield there. They didn't get chance to build any rhythm.

Salford did brilliantly, getting among them with fast line-speed. Trinity haven't had much by way of possession and perhaps it showed?

    Salford 12-0 Wakefield

Wakefield get a penalty and it gives them some chance of getting a foothold in this game, especially after a knock-on.

There will have been some extensive review of Ben Murdoch-Masila in the video sessions this week, notably the way Hull nullified his threat by shutting down the space.

They haven't managed to repeat that so far. Still time for the Trin.

Ben Murdoch-Masila. Salford's top scorer this season rumbles across on a great, ram-rod straight line off a delicious switch pass from Michael Dobson.

Wakefield were shuffling across and that reverse of the play left a big gap.

    Superb from the hosts.

    Salford 6-0 Wakefield

Salford go close again and it's Ryan Lannon who scrapes his way to within a couple of metres of the line. Kyle Wood makes a desperate tackle.

Wakefield eventually turn the ball over in their favour after a kick in goal from Michael Dobson but again they find the territory hard to come by.

That is nothing more than Salford deserve. They have been dominant in the forwards and the backfield have been making great ground on plays one and two.

Ryan Lannon scoresImage source, SW Pix

Ryan Lannon crashes over for Salford after a considerable spell of pressure and once again the influential Robert Lui is the architect.

His kick was tracked by Michael Dobson who managed to dump the ball back for the onrushing Lannon to gather and ground.

First score goes Salford's way and it's deserved.

Salford think they're over... Ryan Lannon went for it...

You have to give a lot of credit to the Wakefield defence but they are struggling with the ball so far.

  17. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Salford 0-0 Wakefield

Big defensive effort shuttles Salford centre Kris Welham into touch. Wakefield's defensive line pats itself on the back.

Intriguing contest. Wakefield have had no field position so far.

    Salford 0-0 Wakefield

Kicking games are always big in rugby league and Robert Lui has a beast of one.

The Salford half forces a drop out with his kick which pins Scott Grix back inside the in-goal area.

Wakefield drop out and are under early pressure...

Two bumped bonces there as Michael Sio roadblocks the rumbling Lama Tasi. Bit of early blood shed!

These two packs are really gunning for it today. BOOM.
