The sight of Hull FC's celebrations yesterday afternoon will no doubt have whet the appetites of Wigan and Salford players, as they prepared for this afternoon's Challenge Cup semi-final.

Wigan's players have been there before. Big games, big atmospheres are part of their annual diet. The most successful club in the competition's history have huge expectations. Their fans demand trophies.

Meanwhile, there is hunger burning away at Salford. Almost 50 years have passed since they last graced the old Wembley Stadium in 1969. Their last semi was in 1998. Marwan Koukash and coach Ian Watson have built a team capable of ending that wait.

The giants against the emerging pretenders? Will the Wigan wave win out? Or are, as the song goes, the Salford Reds rising? Stick about, you won't regret it.
