If you look at the three England games, it's the last 20 minutes where they struggle to score points.

I'm being critical because I think they have the ammunition- they've got the forwards and they've got the skill. I expect them to do better.

    England 36-6 France

England with the last set inside the final minute, but it's one more mistake for Wayne Bennett's boys as a pass goes loose.

That's the hooter though. England take the win, and on to the quarter-final they go.

We wanted to see a dominant performance to set down a marker. We haven't in this second half.

    Here come France again.

Benjamin Jullien driving forward and the Warrington man has support from Lucas Albert.

England shut the break down with some scrambling defence, but it's France who are finishing the stronger.

The skill on this...it's a banana kick, he kicks it on the inside of the ball to twirl it back to the winger.

When they've got the ball, France look like they've got energy.

Some 12 errors from England in this game, says the statto... 12 too many, if you ask Wayne Bennett.

France are looking to finish in style here, Theo Fages dances to the right and Lucas Albert clips a chip into the corner, but Stefan Ratchford jumps highest to bat it out of play like a volleyball.

Tom Burgess loses the ball a tackle, and that's another mistake from England.

    Wayne Bennett will be seething.

Theo Fages eyes a 40-20, but that never had the angle and England can run it back. But it's another mistake, George Williams knocking on in the tackle now.

Just over five minutes to go then. France's tournament is coming to an end, but England's players still have a chance to stake their claim for the knockout stages.

It's slowed down a touch in these closing stages. England players are still trying to take on plenty of water. it's a warm one in Perth.

There were 20 pointless minutes between Jermaine McGillvary's second-half tries.

Here is the Huddersfield man's second.

That was probably the best kick of the second half from England in relation to where they put the ball, and Kheirallah goes 50 metres!

Lucas Albert lofts a high ball towards the England try line, but Mark Percival gathers cleanly.

Tom Burgess takes the pass at speed and breaks through several tacklers to gain England good ground.

Well, I was talking about Mark Kheirallah's try last week, and from a deep Kevin Brown kick into France territory the full-back sidesteps two England tackles before running out of space. Nice footwork.

Chance for Stefan Ratchford on the left, but the England winger can't quite find his feet in time to push off towards the try line.

It's all getting a little bit heated. Chris Hill isn't happy, but it's France with the penalty following an England offside.

France just look tired. That's when the errors come.

I don't think England's errors come from tiredness.

Luke Gale goes for the 40-20 attempt, but that's way off target and straight down the throat of France full-back Mark Kheirallah.

Kheirallah scored a wonder try against Australia last week, but he's not had a chance to hit any gaps against this England side.

I think it was a try. The video referee couldn't overrule it.

McGillvary has hobbled from one half of the field to the other to score that.

He's covered nearly 200 metres in this game. Impressive from him again. He's surely the winger of the tournament so far.

TRY - England 36-6 Francepublished at 64 mins

    Jermaine McGillvary (64 mins)

So just as I was saying Jermaine McGillvary looked to be struggling a bit, the Huddersfield winger conjures up a try of his own making.

He's fed with French defenders in front of him on the right, but shrugs off all would-be-tacklers to find the corner.

It was given as an on-field try, and the video referee can't find any reason to discount it.

McGillvary gets his second, and now he's replaced. A well-earned rest.

Full credit to the French. They've rocked up in this second half and decided they're having a real crack at England.

They're finding players and finding off-loads. They're testing this England team.

Will Wayne Bennett be happy with what he has seen so far?

The Australian asked for a mistake-free performance, but England have now made 10 errors in the match - they made only nine against Lebanon last time out.
