It was a really intense start from Catalans, you've got Sam Moa, Remi Casty and Michael McIlorum dictating the speed of the game, being powerful and full of energy.

But when they went off the discipline started to tweak things it looked like Warrington were going to come back into the game.

That start from the middle unit, however, was incredible.

There has been speculation leading up to today’s final as to just what size of official attendance figure Wembley might expect today.

The presence of Catalans Dragons, colourful though they are, inevitably meant a dip at one end. Warrington’s frequent appearances here over the past decade is another factor. And, as far as the traditional presence at Wembley of fans from other rugby league fans is concerned, could they have been put off be the reputation of the soon to be sold-off national stadium as both overpriced and overhyped?

The RFL’s pre-match hope was that the gate could still maybe top 50,000 but the indications are, surveying just how many empty seats are (the entire upper tier is unused), that it is, in fact, significantly less.

  3. try

TRY: Catalans 20-6 Warringtonpublished at 45 mins

    Brayden Wiliame, goal Josh Drinkwater

Fiery play from Catalans as Tony Gigot thunders a kick back and wins a tremendous 40-20.

The Dragons take full advantage of their territorial play and Brayden Wiliame crosses over the line with ease to extend their lead.

Warrington do not look good and Josh Drinkwater adds insult to injury with an excellent kick to add the extras.

A burst of optimism from Warrington and it's Josh Charnley that has the Wire support excited.

He breaks away from a Catalans set deep into their half of the pitch and breaks downfield.

Tom Lineham attempts to offload from a further break and Catalans win back possession.

So could there really be ‘un meurtre geant’ on the cards at Wembley?

Well, Catalans proved what they were capable of by stunning Saints in the semis.

And it’s so far, so good here for ‘les blancs’.

Lewis Tierney’s second-minute try, doing what his dad Jason Robinson did for Wigan (against Leeds in 1995) was a dream start. But they have carried on working hard, completing their sets of six and have had the character to restore their eight-point cushion after that lucky break for Warrington’s try.

Work to do for the Wire!

  6. 'Warrington have given themselves a chance'published at 16:16 British Summer Time 25 August 2018

    Catalans 14-6 Warrington

    Brian Noble
Ex-Great Britain coach on BBC One

I wouldn't be unhappy if I was either coach.

I think Steve Price (Warrington Wolves) has a little bit more to say to his team and he can change more. They have given themselves a chance, they have grown into the game but they lack a little bit of patience and tried to force the ball at the wrong times.

  7. Kick-offpublished at 40 mins

    Catalans 14-6 Warrington

We are back under way at Wembley. A big half awaits for both of these sides.

  8. 'We have to give it our best'published at 16:12 British Summer Time 25 August 2018

    HT: Catalans 14-6 Warrington

Catalans Dragons' Tony Gigot told BBC One:

"We started the game really well, but 20 minutes in we dropped our discipline, dropped the easy ball and gave them a penalty but there's still 40 minutes to go.

"Warrington have a good team so we have to give it our best - let's see at the end."

  9. 'We need to get back to basics'published at 16:10 British Summer Time 25 August 2018

    HT: Catalans 14-6 Warrington

Warrington Wolves stand-off Kevin Brown told BBC One:

"We started really poor, a lot of the stuff they've had has been given to them on a plate.

"I'm confident will sort that out, we just need to get back to basics."

    Catalans 14-6 Warrington

A look at the key statistics at the break.

Catalans Dragons are working hard in every category and have remarkably completed every set. They are the sort of numbers that win finals.

Warrington, however, are very much in this and will be busting to get back underway.

  11. 'A great finish by Garcia'published at 16:01 British Summer Time 25 August 2018

    HT: Catalans 14-6 Warrington

    Jonathan Davies
Former Great Britain international on BBC One

That's a great finish from Ben Garcia - he took the option to finish it off.

The decision making on the last tackle has been very good by both sides, the kicking game has been accurate and on this occasion he takes upon himself, sees the opportunity and scores.

Just as Warrington were getting a bit of momentum back, Catalans strike.

    Catalans 14-6 Warrington

It's all gone Catalans' way so far in this half but this man's try might just have kept Warrington in this match.

Ben Murdoch-Masila's try was soon cancelled out by Ben Garcia and you get the feeling if he hadn't have touched down, this game could have slipped away from the Wire.

    Catalans 14-6 Warrington

Toby King comes from nowhere to challenge Tony Gigot for the ball and that is tremendous play from Warrington.

They were inches from the try-line and could have been right back in this game no sooner had Catalans touched down.

    Tremendous stuff.

  14. try

TRY: Catalans 14-6 Warringtonpublished at 34 mins

    Ben Garcia, goal Josh Drinkwater

Essai! Well that's against the run of play!

Talk about fine margins. Robert Hicks takes it to video referee Ben Thaler as Ben Garcia looks to have crossed over amid a sea of Warrington players, led by Harvey Livett, trying to hold him up.

Replays show he just about manages to touch it down onto the line and Catalans extend their lead, with Josh Drinkwater adding the two.

David: Second best in this half...and only 2 points behind. I'll take that - GAME ON!

    Catalans 8-6 Warrington

Could that try be the impetus Warrington need to push on in this Challenge Cup final?

They look far more comfortable in possession now and Catalans concede the drop out under the sticks from Tyrone Roberts' smart kicking.

The Wire are now camped out in the Dragons' half of the field.

TRY: Catalans 8-6 Warringtonpublished at 28 mins

    Ben Murdoch-Masila, goal Tyrone Roberts

Well wouldn't you look at this gift that Ben Murdoch-Masila has been given?

He works on to a loose ball spilled by Fouad Yaha and touches down but referee Robert Hicks takes it to video referee Ben Thaler.

Video replays show it wasn't a Warrington knock-on and it's given. That's just what they needed!

Tyrone Roberts adds the two right in front of the posts.

Stefan Ratchford kicks the ball out of play to deny a Catalans dash for the ball in the in-goal area.

Catalans go again with another set, they attempt a chip and kick towards Lewis Tierney but Warrington tackle him and the attack is neutralised.

There's no let-up from the Dragons so far.

  19. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Catalans 8-0 Warrington

Big roar from the Warrington fans at the minute and they're trying to rouse their side into seizing the initiative.

A big Remi Casty kick - not quite a 40-20, mind - sends the two sides back upfield deep past Warrington's 10-metre line.

More work for the Wire, now.

  20. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Catalans 8-0 Warrington

Big gamble gone wrong from the Wire, here.

Stefan Ratchford sends a long pass to Tom Lineham during a break downfield and it's forward.

A lack of composure? You be the judge, but it's not going Warrington's way so far.
