Wigan v Castleford (Fri, 19:45 BST)

There's plenty of incentive for both Wigan and Castleford to join Warrington at Old Trafford on the 13 October.

Hometown boy Shaun Wane, plus players John Bateman, Sam Tomkins and Ryan Sutton are all departing this winter, which could make an emotional finish at the DW Stadium for the Wiganers.

"I've been here a long long time, I'm sad to be leaving, the club means everything to me," Wane told BBC Radio Manchester. "I'm a Wigan lad and I want to make sure we finish off with a bang.

"I was born 200 metres away from that stadium, I've lived in the town all my life, it's in my blood. Wigan town is close to my heart and it would be brilliant to finish off in my last home game with a win to get us to Old Trafford."

Castleford do not need to look far back for their own motivation. Last year, they edged a thrilling golden-point semi-final to book their first Grand Final appearance.

However, despite enjoying a Saints-esque dominance of the regular season, they lost influential full-back Zak Hardaker to a doping ban in the week of the game, and were blown away by a rampant Leeds in the soggy October air at Old Trafford.

The Tigers of 2018 have flown under the radar to some extent, as reflected in their lack of representation in the Super League Dream Team, but have been in and around the top four all season.

"Look at what we've done, again in the top four," boss Daryl Powell told BBC Radio Leeds. "Some of our players have incredible seasons, Paul McShane and Adam Milner, can feel hard done by, but they can use that as motivation.

"We'll use everything that we've got to make sure we show our drive and desire, it'll bring the best out of us, that we've got so much to prove.

    Ben BarbaImage source, Swpix.com

Although it wasn't Ben Barba's night in this semi-final, as Warrington's defence kept him under a tight rein for much of the match, anyone who loves rugby league - and good rugby league at that - can't help but be saddened that he will depart for the NRL next season.

Barba's silky running, blistering passing and rapier-like pace made him a joy to watch for much of the campaign, and his 31 tries in 29 games were good enough to make him regular season top scorer.

Having stars like him in our competition is something I think we should cherish, and I only hope Lachlan Coote carries the baton just as well.

Cheers, Ben. You've been a star.

Kyle: Well played Warrington. Heroic effort on the night and they deserved it on the night. Saints have been magnificent all season so gutted for them. They deserve to be at the grand final. Gutted for Barba to who's been sensational all season. Brilliant match.

Phil: What a semi final, both teams left nothing out there so much commitment in attack and defence

What a first season in the job it has been for boss Steve Price at Warrington. He inherited a side that finished in the Qualifers last term and has turned them into title contenders.

Price's Wire finished fourth, the lowest ranked team in the play-offs but beating the league leaders - a Saints side that won 26 of 30 regular season games - puts them in the driving seat when it comes to their big dance at Old Trafford next weekend.

"St Helens were the best team this season, so I'm really proud of the boys," Price told Sky Sports.

"We'll enjoy tonight, enjoy it for what it is, but we'll be ready for next week."

    FT: St Helens 13-18 Warrington

Warrington's try hero this evening was a man who a couple of seasons ago was left out of the Challenge Cup final and looked as though his Wire career could be over.

However Tom Lineham has fought back to become a key part of the Warrington side, with 21 tries, and can now look to put this season's Challenge Cup final defeat behind them in the Grand Final.

"What happened at Wembley was disappointing," he told Sky Sports.

"We've got a chance to write that wrong now and go on to Old Trafford and become the first Warrington team to win a Grand Final."

WARRINGTON ARE IN THE GRAND FINAL.

St Helens, the stand-out side of the 2018 season, have tumbled out at the semi-final stage for the fourth season in a row.

Warrington however, who are bound for Old Trafford for the fourth time since 2012, can prepare for a meeting with Wigan or Castleford.

    St Helens 13-18 Warrington

There's a part of me that feels so sorry for Saints, how cruel it feels to have been the stand-out team but on the cusp of being dumped out.

However, Warrington deserve it, for their efforts. And Saints now that it ain't over til it's over. This time last year they were headed for the Grand Final before Castleford's late fightback.

What a moment for Warrington, whose slick hands out on the left from Stefan Ratchford and Bryson Goodwin put Tom Lineham into a bit of space out wide.

He's got a lot to do, but bulldozes through one, steps another and rolls his way over the stripe to score his second.

Has that knocked the stuffing out of St Helens at the last??!
