    St Helens 2-2 Warrington

BOSH! That woke up the neighbours!? Two moments of class.

Luke Thompson make a steaming run straight through the Warrington defence, it took a huge effort to claw him in and lifted the crowd audibly.

Then as Saints went for a chip on the last, Tommy Makinson's tap back was intercepted by Stefan Ratchford, who scampered away upfield.

Neither event produced any points but it did get the old pulse racing! Pumped!

    St Helens 2-2 Warrington

Kyle: Poor start to this game far to many errors and penalties. Hopefully it picks up soon. It's dire so far.

Yeah, as soon as anyone gets into a good position, someone seems to drop it or spill it.

Gripping though, if not a bit untidy.

    St Helens 2-2 Warrington

First time we've seen anything slightly clinical, as Warrington force a drop-out with a teasing kick close to the Saints line.

League leaders forced to drop out. Warrington have it back.

James Roby on as Dom Peyroux wanders off a little dazed-looking. His introduction could be timely.

Warrington scrum is the first thing the Saints skipper will face. Danger signs for the Saints.

    St Helens 2-2 Warrington

I'd say this picture, of Stefan Ratchford being swamped by Matty Lees and Jon Wilkin, sums up the contest. It's been gritty.

Might have to wait until the two packs burn out before we see the best of the two backlines. It's a proper arm-wrestle right now.

    St Helens 2-2 Warrington

    It's been scrappy, it's been error-strewn, it's been hard-as-nails. I can't say it's been immensely high quality, but it's been riveting.

There's no real rhythm, no-one has taken the game by the scruff of the neck.

St Helens' last set was a slightly aimless one, with a disappointing last-tackle kick easily mopped up. Warrington's response was a fairly routine one, Ben Barba leaping highest to pouch the loose kick.

  7. PENALTY: St Helens 2-2 Warringtonpublished at 15 mins

    Danny Richardson

He kicked one from 55 metres out earlier this season. That was meat and drink to a kicker of Danny Richardson's calibre. All square.

    St Helens 0-2 Warrington

Well-structured set by Saints, as first drives from Luke Thompson and Matty Lees establish a bit of field position.

Then Zeb Taia rips in on the left-edge. Stopped. Then ball goes left and Ben Barba goes for a scoot.

Jonny Lomax's turn. Hand in the ruck. Penalty. Might level things up here...

    St Helens 0-2 Warrington

Warrington have cranked up the pace here. St Helens seem to be compounding errors with penalties. That could be put down to frustration.

The look on Jon Wilkin's face was a picture. The very epitome of incredulous. He was annoyed, basically.

Now it's Warrington's turn for mistakes. First a knock-on, and then a penalty. Might be a scrappy, feisty night.

  10. PENALTY: St Helens 0-2 Warringtonpublished at 10 mins

    Tyrone Roberts

Warrington's Gold Coast-bound half-back Tyrone Roberts strokes the ball through the posts from close-in, centre-field.

Early advantage for the primose and blue.

    St Helens 0-0 Warrington

Warrington get the penalty as St Helens fail to release the tackled player Chris Hill when held was called.

Think they've called for the tee. Wire are 10 metres away from the line.

    St Helens 0-0 Warrington

St Helens errors costing them dearly. They've had butterfingers - Dom Peyroux the latest to toss away possession carelessly.

Then offside gives Warrington the chance to rake the ball to touch and again, it's back on top of the hosts.

    St Helens 0-0 Warrington

Warrington kicked on the last to Ben Barba, and their chase was peerless as the Australian full-back had nowhere to go.

However, on the back of that, over-eager defence sees them offside. Penalty.

Booted to touch. Saints back on the charge.

    St Helens 0-0 Warrington

Warrington's set comes to an end as Kevin Brown's kick is easily mopped up - that was good field position for them though, 10 metres out.

St Helens' response has been to charge up field with some beast-mode carries from their forward pack. Luke Thompson right in the mix.

Kick downfield clears the lines. It's been bloomin' breathless so far.

    St Helens 0-0 Warrington

Warrington's first set showed promise as Bodene Thompson and Bryson Goodwin both made half-breaks before the ball was turned over deep in Saints territory.

The first two sets in the NRL Grand Final were seen out in one minute, 30 seconds. It's not quite that quick but not far off.

Now two blows for Saints, the first is winger Tommy Makinson limping in backplay, and the other is a cheap knock on which gives the Warrington side field position in their end.

    St Helens 0-0 Warrington

The first set was rattled through ferociously by St Helens, but a loose pass to Jonny Lomax crashed off his chest and handed Warrington the ball in midfield.

It's the equivalent of starting a boxing match by running across the ring and lamping a stunned opponent.

This is going to be bruising and tasty.

    St Helens 0-0 Warrington

No turning back now. The hooter has gone.

All around the Totally Wicked Stadium there is a throbbing mass of red and white and primrose and blue.

Robert Hicks puts the whistle to his lips, shrills confidently and we are UNDER WAY.

It's a chilly night in 'Sintellins' toinight. The floodlights are on. It's got all the hallmarks of a special, special night.

Teams not far away. There's an impressive Warrington contingent behind the sticks, while the home support has also turned up in numbers.

Last preparations being done, huddles, tape and back-slaps all round. Let's get this one going.

    I'm buzzing now.
