So, that's is it from the AJ Bell Stadium tonight, where Salford turned it round in the second-half to overcome a Wigan side that looked really strong at half-time.

Credit to Ian Watson and his players, they showed real mettle. Pleased for Kevin Brown, who has had an injury nightmare; and for the Salford squad who stuck to the task when it looked pretty tough to fight back.

Wigan will definitely be there or thereabouts come the end of the season, and while it will hurt for Adrian Lam and his players when they review this game on the video, there's plenty to be positive about - bigger picture wise.

Another belter in the Super League then. There's still Castleford-St Helens to come on Sunday, and of course, Newcastle Thunder v Dewsbury on the BBC red button, iPlayer, sport app and online.

    Until then, good night.

Coming back was great, we started like a house on fire but we didn't play in the second-half. It's extremely disappointing with our defence there and we got blown open. I am grateful to Salford for what they did for me. It's a proud night on appearance 100 but a disappointing one

We had a kick up the backside at half-time, we went away from the game-plan and when we stuck to our process that's what we can do. Tonight we had a real good arm-wrestle. I'm just glad I'm back on the pitch. I needed to put a performance together.

  6. Wakefield get past Bulls in cuppublished at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2020

    FT: Wakefield 17-14 Bradford

The drama hasn't been contained to the AJ Bell Stadium tonight, that's for sure.

In West Yorkshire, Wakefield come from behind to avoid a Challenge Cup upset against Championship side Bradford.

Reece Lyne's late try ensured the Super League hosts move into the sixth round.

It's tough seeing those boys come off the field without smiles as I'm used to being with them but we needed that win, it's a boost for us. I felt bad for smashing Bevan French there, I had to make my read on him. He tried to sneak wide, I had to get him and I got him.

    Quote Message

We needed that one, we haven't started too well, we had a few tough losses at home. no better place to bounce back. Games are built on defence, but we dug in tonight and ground them down. We weren't pulling the trigger in the first-half, we did in the second

Cojones, minerals... whatever you want to call it. Salford have shown big time spirit and character to come back against a Wigan side who might just wonder how on earth they have lost this game.

Niall Evalds scored two super tries, and Kevin Brown finished it off, after Jackson Hastings and Sam Powell put them into a fine position at half-tine.

Massive boost for Salford and a lift for Ian Watson, after a tough few weeks.

Mitch Clark, who bared his blue boxers to all and sundry a moment ago in the tackle, has a bite at Joey Lussick after a condescending tap on the head.

Meanwhile, Salford penalty at the back of it. Inside the last minute. Game over surely.

He has SMASHED Bevan French as he set off into the line but the former Wigan player put him on his backside.

Wigan not going for a short-one. It's slugged downfield.

The Red Devils need to keep their cool. Five to go.

    Kevin Brown

    My word. My word.

Salford created a position when a brilliant break by Rhys Williams danced his way into space and took a tackle.

From there, Salford bash away on the right, swing to the left.

Dan Sarginson goes for it. Held-up. Kevin Brown shuffles with the ball and drives over the line! Super try.

Big try. The Wigan lad, a boyhood fan, has punished his old club.

    FT: Featherstone 46-6 Hunslet

Championship side Featherstone romp past League One club Hunslet in the Challenge Cup with a nine-try win!

Wigan's kicking game has really let them down in the past few sets, easy to gather for Salford, easy to deal with.

This time it's young half Harry Smith. Highly-rated but his grubber not up to standard there.

Salford push on, they're clear but a forward pass goes to Rhys Williams from Tui Lolohea. Unforgivable!

    Niall Evalds, con Tui Lolohea

Wow. Wigan were about to put the foot on the throat perhaps for the crucial score but Sam Powell's grubber goes loose and there's one man Salford need to mop up, and he does.

Niall Evalds goes into booster mode, flicking on the afterburners to scorch clear of the Wigan cover.

Talk about ruthlessness. It's all square and Evalds has been magnificent.
