    Catalans 12-10 Salford

    Back-to-back penalties for the Dragons.

    Salford under the pump...

But just as it looks threatening, Michael McIlorum's pass to Remi Casty sails forward. Brought to a shuddering halt.

If you go back in your time machine 10 minutes then Salford would settle for this scoreline. Catalans will be kicking themselves - they were poor defensively on their right edge to let Inu in.

    Catalans 12-10 Salford

Dan Sarginson puts a really horrid kick in behind and Sam Tomkins has to dive on the grenade amongst the chasers to snuff it out for Catalans.

Even the last-tackle plays have lost a bit of sparkle. Their last kick was on the last, just inside the Salford half.

Not far off half-time. Dan Sarginson gets a word from Ben Thaler for some choice language. And now a dissent call hands Catalans a penalty. Naughty boy.

    Krisnan Inu

Do not adjust your computer... Salford, from two chances in a game where they have toiled, are now just two points behind.

Krisnan Inu out wide on the left took another bullet pass from Kevin Brown and just brushed aside the covering winger to stretch out and score.

The Smiling Assassin cannot deliver the killer blow from the tee, so they're still behind but Catalans are all over the shop.

    Catalans 12-6 Salford

Well, well, well. This will be a really interesting period with 10 minutes to the break.

Catalans have shown a bit more of a tough underbelly, having previously struggled a bit in that department.

Having conceded a try despite blanket pressure, their mettle might wobble.

Oh aye, it might. Fouad Yaha just knocked on under pressure from Pauli Pauli.

Salford 10 away from the Dragons line!

How are Salford still in this game? They have had no possession and have made error after error.

    Dan Sarginson, con Krisnan Inu

Really smart work here from Salford, who from an economy of chances have one from one.

Kevin Brown added some needed zip to their play on the back of some surges, skipping on the outside to the left and then fizzing a ball to Krisnan Inu.

The former Kiwi international drove in, found a round the corner offload and Dan Sarginson got the ball down.

    Inu kicked it. Deficit halved.

    Catalans 12-0 Salford

There's a real energy about Catalans. Their outside backs in Fouad Yaha and Lewis Tierney are mucking in, leaving the big forwards like Remi Casty and Julian Bousquet a little fresher when they come to churn the hard-yards.

Salford on the back of a penalty are into the Catalans half now...

    Catalans 12-0 Salford

I'm struggling to think of any point where Salford have enjoyed sustained pressure.

Kallum Watkins' best work has been in defence.

Meanwhile, Catalans' last-tackle play results in a knock-on from Israel Folau. Red Devils to start midway inside their own half.

It's inevitable the pressure was going to tell. The sheer volume of possession that has been with Catalans pays its way.

    James Maloney, con Maloney

Try from a half-back which echoed the powerplay work of his prop forwards.

James Maloney taking advantage of some fatiguing Salford defence to blast onto the pass from dummy-half and plunge in to score.

Boots the goal for a 12-0 lead. They're in control.

    Catalans 6-0 Salford

Brilliant speed and footwork from Israel Folau almost produces a try down the Salford left, the Dragons right-edge looking dangerous again.

Did have Lewis Tierney outside him but he looked odds on.

Now they've got the ball back from an errant pass...

Dragons force their way in at the corner with Josh Drinkwater but Dan Sarginson stops him... at the expense of another penalty! High shot.

I'm not surprised to see how good Catalans have been tonight, mainly because they were fairly poor at home to Wigan on Saturday. I just imagine Steve McNamara's mood...

Salford showing some fight now, getting a set-restart for their trouble and their latest set of six is in good ball position.

Oh, I've jinxed. Mark Flanagan passes to the offside Luke Yates and it's a Dragons penalty.

  14. PENALTY: Catalans 6-0 Salfordpublished at 16 mins

    James Maloney

James Greenwood is pinged at the ruck for staying in too long. Catalans opt for the two points from the tee.

Bang in front, James Maloney ensures a six-point lead with this attempt.

Kallum Watkins in action for SalfordImage source, PA Media

Dan Sarginson spilled a dangerous kick from James Maloney to hand the Dragons a repeat set under the posts, but desperate defence from Luke Yates and Kallum Watkins keeps them out.

Kris Welham sweeps around the back to cover another tester of a kick and is shuttled back over his own line to concede a drop out.

Salford being made to burn off energy here. Big drop out clears the lines.

    Catalans 4-0 Salford

Salford went for a shift to their left after some enterprising play in midfield but Kris Welham sees the ball slip agonisingly from his grasp.

Cannot afford to let opportunities like that pass.

Meanwhile, we've just seen the threat of Israel Folau. Gets up a long, long way to clutch a chip to the corner in and tips off a nice offload to Lewis Tierney.

James Maloney threads a kick in behind but Salford scramble to mop up.

I thought Sam Tomkins was going to go in there. He had five yards to go. But you have to credit Kallum Watkins for getting back and dislodging the ball. It was a great piece of defensive work.

    Catalans 4-0 Salford

Salford struggling for a bit of rhythm, and an attempt to kick early and catch the Dragons out backfires after a shove.

The French club respond with a searing break by Sam Tomkins... BEATS ONE, BEATS TWO... the line is in sight...

KALLUM WATKINS TRYSAVER. What a tackle to spill the ball, and a crucial one.

    Catalans 4-0 Salford

Salford behind without touching the ball with their hands, as Jacko says.

Very good set on the back of their disappointment though. Kevin Brown banging a really well-aimed kick to Lewis Tierney in the corner. Kris Welham timed his arrival on the chase and pegged the winger back in his own 10.

Salford have had no possession, they haven't had a set of six. Salford have been their own worst enemies. The Dragons are in the box seat.
