That was brilliant from Theo Fages. He went to the line and created the room and the objective around there. We talked about percentages and execution, that's both.

That's getting to the right part of the field and Jones knows his role. Everyone knows their role in this Huddersfield team.

Tony Smith: Hull KR boss relishes Challenge Cup semi-final atmosphere

Hull KR are purely focused on reaching the Challenge Cup final and the threat of opponents Huddersfield in Saturday's semi-final, rather than any sentimental sub-plots, says head coach Tony Smith.

Smith confirmed last month he would be leaving the Robins at the end of the year, after his third season in charge.

The 55-year-old took Rovers to the Super League play-offs last season and could now reach a cup final this term.

"We'll treat it exactly the same as any other game," Smith told BBC Look North.

Right, let's turn our attention to today's final Challenge Cup fixture of the day.

Huddersfield take on Hull KR with the prize to today's winner being a trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in three weeks' time to face Wigan Warriors.

    FT: Wigan 20-18 St Helens

    Jon Wilkin
Former England international on BBC One

This is sport, this is why we love it. The contrast in emotions is evident.

It looked like it was on for St Helens, it looked they were doing enough to win the game but sport is cruel and Wigan, after that effort in the first half, deserve to celebrate.

  16. 'We had a lot of reasons to win'published at 16:32 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    FT: Wigan 20-18 St Helens

Wigan Warriors head coach Matt Peet told BBC Sport:

"We expected nothing less. We knew at half time we had the upper hand but they came back.

We know they're a class team and the benchmark team but today thank goodness it belongs to us and credit to the boys.

The plan worked in the first half and the second half was all about desire. I trust this group and our leadership group. We had a lot of reasons to win today."

  17. 'We knew it would be tough'published at 16:29 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    FT: Wigan 20-18 St Helens

Wigan Warriors' Harry Smith told BBC Sport:

"It was a great game and an outstanding effort from everyone. We knew it would be tough right until the end.

"We said that that would come flying out the blocks. The way we came back and stood to get together was brilliant.

"[On Liam Marshall's decisive try] I can guarantee anyone would have got on that ball today but I'm buzzing it was Marshy."

    A SEMI-FINAL FOR THE AGES.

Sensational rugby league from both sides but it's Liam Marshall's late try for Wigan that gives them the edge and wins them the derby against St Helens and brings to an end Saints' defence of their Challenge Cup title.

Wigan are headed for Tottenham later this month.

Wigan can't make their attack stick and St Helens regain possession but have a good 80 metres to make up in the final minute.

    They need a miracle.
