  1. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Huddersfield 2-0 Wigan

What a tackle from Bevan French!

Huddersfield really should be at least six points ahead here as Innes Senior looks to run in at the corner.

But French puts in a try-saving tackle to deny him as he goes in to touch.

  2. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Huddersfield 2-0 Wigan

Huddersfield win a play the ball inside their own 10 as Jai Field attempts a high-risk grubber kick as Wigan break upfield.

The Giants build their attack and win a penalty soon after.

Dare I say this is a bit of an edgy start from Wigan. Two penalties conceded inside the first eight minutes.

  3. 'Really feel the buzz'published at 15:13 British Summer Time 28 May 2022

    Huddersfield 2-0 Wigan

    Shamoon Hafez
BBC Sport at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

It's by far from a sell-out here at Tottenham's incredible ground but the acoustics keep the noise contained inside and you can really feel the buzz each time the fans sniff an opportunity in the attacking half.

  4. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Huddersfield 2-0 Wigan

That's not the start that Matty Peet and Wigan Warriors will have wanted right now.

But, under Peet, Wigan have been pretty resolute this season, as seen by St Helens' valiant comeback in the semi-final which they weathered magnificently.

Huddersfield kick on the turnover and Wigan regain the ball on halfway. Plenty of life in these early stages.

  5. PENALTY: Huddersfield 2-0 Wiganpublished at 3 mins

    Tui Lolohea

Huddersfield win a penalty following an off-the-ball incident as Wigan went on the attack in the opening stages of this game.

It's in kicking range past halfway and Tui Lolohea stands over it.

He makes no mistake and the Giants are on the board.

  6. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Wigan

    Jon Wilkin
Former England international on BBC One

Wigan have recruited really well - they're brought in raw speed and rugby ability in Jai Field, who has blown the competition to bits this season.

Liam Farrell loves to run lines and then he's got Field behind him - it's the perfect foil for him as a back rower.

  7. Kick-offpublished at 15:05

    Huddersfield 0-0 Wigan

Huddersfield get this going and the 2022 Challenge Cup final is under way!

Let's hope for a cracker of a final.

    Huddersfield v Wigan (15:00 BST)

There's a brief applause in the memory of Maurice Lindsay, former RFL and Wigan chairman and a figurehead of the sport of rugby league, who sadly died last week at the age of 81.

The pitch is being cleared after and we're moments from kick-off.

We've heard the national anthem, from the top of the stand to our right here at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It smells like bonfire night after all the fireworks.

    Huddersfield v Wigan (15:00 BST)

The players are out, the fireworks have been set off.

You don't get much bigger than this. We're at a new home this year but it's no less the occasion.

I have got to say though, the noise is so loud. The fans in attendance are in fine voice.

Interestingly, Huddersfield are just ending their warm-up, several minutes after Wigan.

Mind games? We're just over five minutes away from kick-off.

Plenty of fans still arriving and the noise is deafening.

Whoever wins it, it will be a massive story. I think Wigan are big favourites, but that could potentially be the banana skin. Ian Watson will thrive on the underdog tag, and we should get a really close contest like we saw two weeks ago in the league.

Wigan will need to be on their game to handle the emotional occasion of the Challenge Cup final against Huddersfield, says boss Matt Peet.

Warriors have seen off Salford, Wakefield and rivals St Helens to reach the final in north London.

It is Peet's first season in the job, and he is only one victory away from ending a nine-year wait to win the cup.

"We're not going to shy away from it, we want to embrace the pressure," Peet told BBC Radio Manchester.

"We want to embrace the occasion, but we've got to be present for 80 minutes on Saturday afternoon."

    Jamie Peacock
Former England captain on BBC One

It's a really special occasion, and a special day for the sport. There's one point separating the teams in the league, a bit of a clash of styles. There's a lot of pressure on Wigan today - nine years since they last won it. I can't wait.

Challenge Cup: Wigan Warriors beat St Helens in dramatic semi-final

Wigan set up their place in the Challenge Cup final by withstanding a stunning comeback from reigning champions St Helens in the semi-finals.

The Cherry and Whites led 14-0 at the break thanks to tries from Liam Marshall, Cade Cust and Liam Farrell.

Saints hit back to lead after three tries in 10 minutes after the break but Marshall ran in a second to seal victory for Wigan.

That Marshall try meant that Wigan teed up their spot in the Challenge Cup final for the first time in five years.

Challenge Cup highlights: Huddersfield Giants 25-4 Hull KR

Huddersfield sealed their place in today's final - their first since 2009 - courtesy of a straightforward win against Hull KR.

Innes Senior scored a cracker of a try, running in from the length of the field as they eased to a 25-4 victory.

Today marks a second final in three seasons for boss Ian Watson, whose Salford side were beaten by Leeds at a behind closed doors Wembley in 2020.

The Giants were beaten by Warrington last time they reached the final. Wigan stand in the way of a first title in 69 years, today.

    Huddersfield v Wigan (15:00 BST)

Current Catalans Dragons skipper Sam Tomkins knows what it takes to win the Challenge Cup, having done so twice with his hometown club Wigan.

And the full-back was in no doubt who will lift the trophy today when I spoke to him earlier this week.

"I think Wigan will win it and be too strong," said Tomkins. "Huddersfield are a team full of confidence this year and probably feel it is the best they have played for a long time. They will see themselves as underdogs and nothing to lose. That is a dangerous prospect for Wigan,

“If Huddersfield can get out of the traps fast and make Wigan chase the game, that will make it difficult. Huddersfield need a 10 out of the 10 performance.

"Whatever is created in those 80 minutes stays around for a long time. You can make yourself a legend and that is one of the special things about the Challenge Cup.”

The players are out here at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their pre-game warm-ups.

The roar was big when the Huddersfield players came out. The roar was bigger when the Wigan team did.

This is a really magnificent ground. Really lives up to the hype.
