Former England hooker on BBC One

"Again from a relatively short space of time after an England score, three points are given away.

"If this turns out to be the half-time score Wales will be pleased because England have been much the better team in this first half."

  2. PENALTY (Halfpenny)published at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2014

Dylan Hartley goes off his feet at a ruck for the second time in quick succession, Romain Poite blows the whistle and Leigh Halfpenny trims the gap with his fourth penalty.

Pretty poor play for Hartley, especially coming so soon after they scored.

    Robert Jones
Former Wales scrum-half on 5 live Sport

"Wales are in disarray at the moment, in the face of some great attacking play from England, something that I haven't seen for some time. At the moment, England have got the better of this."

  4. Postpublished at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2014

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on 5 live Sport

"That is a try! Billy Twelvetrees has been a little bit rusty and made a few dodgy decision but there was nothing wrong with that, a little chip through for his fellow centre Luther Burrell to score."

  5. Postpublished at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2014

    Brian Moore
Former England hooker on BBC One

"Wales flew up out of the line to create the dogleg so the chip was available and Burrell was sharp. Alex Cuthbert flew out of the line and if he'd stayed square it would have been a much more difficult angle.

"Huge noise here. Who said middle class people can't be passionate?"

  6. TRY (Burrell, con Farrell)published at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2014

Owen Farrell's raking kick pins the Welsh back. They panic at the line-out as Richard Hibbard overthrows and England have the ball fewer than 10m out.

The hosts move it wide, Billy Twelvetrees threads through a gem of a grubber kick and Northampton centre Luther Burrell scores his third try of the championship - his third Test try ever, as it happens.

Owen Farrell converts from wide out, England opening up a decent lead here.

    Martyn Williams
Former Wales captain on BBC One

"Wales will take being within four points because they haven't played well at all in the first 30 minutes."

Jonny Mango:, external Wales lucky to be so close, but England haven't been clinical enough. Still a long way to go.

  9. PENALTY (Halfpenny)published at 15:33 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2014

It's hugely entertaining out there, but England are making mistakes at the breakdown as they try to counter and when Jack Nowell finds himself isolated, Leigh Halfpenny slots the resulting penalty.

    Brian Moore
Former England hooker on BBC One

"Wales are being made to work a lot harder at the breakdown and the back row is doing defensive work rather than get forward on the front foot.

"Stuart Lancaster will be pleased that England are showing ambition and looking sharp. Wales need their big-game line-breakers to step up and get them going forward."

  11. Postpublished at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2014

    Robert Jones
Former Wales scrum-half on 5 live Sport

"There is a long, long way to go, but England are the better side playing the rugby. Wales haven't had enough possession to put England under sustained pressure. Wales now need to look to hit back in the remainder of this first half."

  12. Postpublished at 15:29 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2014

    Martyn Williams
Former Wales captain on BBC One

"You can see the Wales tactic to go long and put pressure on England but they're just not executing."

Wales are hoofing the ball back to England at every opportunity, trying to pin the hosts back in their own half, but Rhys Priestland's effort drifts out of play and here come England again from the line-out.

England loose-head Joe Marler, all 19 stone of him, is initially well tackled by Wales scrum-half Rhys Webb but he fails to roll away and England have another penalty in front of the sticks.

Owen Farrell steps up and England are a converted try in front.

It's over 50 metres but Halfpenny has the accuracy of a laser and cuts the gap to four.

    Brian Moore

"Wales can't say they weren't warned [about Jenkins]. Warren Gatland must want Wales to cut errors out. They haven't got the phases together and they need fluency and periods of possession."

  17. PENALTY (Farrell)published at 15:20 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2014
