There's not a fan to be seen inside the Stade de France which means it's time for us to wrap up this live text commentary and leave Brian O'Driscoll, Jamie Heaslip, external and the rest of the Irish crew to sip champagne in peace. Thanks, as always, for your contributions. What a tournament, what a conclusion, and they said you shouldn't believe in fairytales.

Dave:, external You can always rely on the French to mess it up. Congratulations to Ireland, you won't get it next year though!

Megan Pierce:, external Can we talk about how good Trimble was?

"Ireland winning the Six Nations offers the route to more silverware in the future. It is the end of an era for Brian O'Driscoll but there's a load of young players in that team that now believe they can win."

"My man of the tournament has to be Mike Brown. He cut some great lines and he's played so well throughout the tournament."

On England's future: "The great thing about England is that there is healthy competition in every position. They have two lines of attack. It is a happy camp because they are winning. They're going to New Zealand in the summer and they will be found out there."

Prior to this match, Ireland had won just one of their last 22 games in the French capital. History was against them but they cared little about that.

"So, the difference between a glorious ending for Brian O'Driscoll and and an ignominious exit was an iffy pass by Vincent Debaty. That said, you have to say Ireland deserved their title, they were the most impressive outfit across the entire tournament. Paris watch out - Ireland is coming to drink you out of Guinness and O'Driscoll will be having half of it..."

Binny:, external Great day for Ireland, sad day for rugby as a true legend retires. The Six Nations won't be the same without Brian O'Driscoll.

Josh Payne:, external Well done Ireland but England should be encouraged by a fantastic Six Nations. Looking forward to the summer tour of New Zealand.

Ireland full-back Rob Kearney: "Anytime you win a trophy it is really special. Away from home and under the circumstances we did, it was a special, special day, although if truth be told we were pretty lucky on the day.

"Everything was Brian O'Driscoll-mania right across the country, it was on our mind but it was important we did not get drawn into it, but we wanted to make it special for his final game.

"This is up there as one of the best moments of my career. Playing and winning for your country is the pinnacle. Where we are now, with this group of players is special."

Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt tells BBC Sport: I don't think for me it's as important as it is for the players. The players are self-driven and got themselves into this position. We had our noses in front of England and managed to keep our noses in front against France. I think I am only going to last a year or two in this job. I'm either going to be dead or fired because I will blow a gasket! It was real seat of the pants stuff, but I have to say we maintained consistency throughout. Even at Twickenham we were hard to beat."

On Brian O'Driscoll's final appearance: "He is the prince and he deserves what he has earned."

Shane Horgan and Ronan O'Gara appear pitch-side and Munsterman O'Gara attempts to give his former team-mate, Brian O'Drsicoll, a fireman's lift but he fails dreadfully. O'Gara was always better at orchestrating play than lifting heavy loads and the pair laugh it off.
